lol. Maybe. But really, GP's are out of control with these drugs. I fired the first few doctors I saw because without blood work/enough history, they offered such drugs.

That's because of larger reimbursements with pharmaceuticals.

WRT psychiatric drugs, the sad reality is the same MOAs being targeted haven't changes in the past 40+ years in part due to schedule I restrictions.

"A pill for every ill". I agree that many/most docs are quick to grab a prescription pad. I had this same conversation with a group of doctors last week in Boston. It's not just the MDs but a society as a whole that has come to rely on a pill to fix every problem. People generally know our diets are poor and exercise nearly nonexistent for many people. Report after report has shown that increased mental and physical exercise combined with cleaner, healthier nutrition would reduce risks for many major diseases (CVD, T2DM, obesity, cancer, AD) yet people would rather eat crap, sit on their rear ends and wait for doctors to give them a magic pill to fix everything.

I'm not saying doctors don't contribute to the problem. Clearly they do but the health care system has always reinforced treatment, not prevention, and until that changes, we will remain a pill-popping society.

I can see how year after year anti-psychotics are at the top of the board. Doctors seem to prescribe them for anything and everything, unfortunately.

Crestor is off the charts! Expensive drug.

I did the same thing with a couple and my GP I told them to NEVER prescribe me any phyc meds, I dont care if it is also used for migraines, sleep or back/nerve issues. I made them write it in my chart.

Yeah they try to prescribe them for everything. I believe one reason is because they (government) are trying to pass laws that anyone who is prescribed phyc meds (for any reason) will be denied or have they concealed weapon permit revoked.
