I've never seen any Rocky film, at least not complete or that part that you mention,

but i get what you say about disease involving uncooked food

and the messed up thing was, once we saw Sly do it, then it became a "fad" and many of us were doing it. Gulping down a raw egg without triggering the gag reflex is a hard thing to do. I've seen a couple that have lost their stomach contents making the attempt.
