Need help buying a new car

Hey guys I'm looking into buying a new car and would appreciate some opinions. I would like an all wheel drive car that's good on gas.

My first choice is this 2010 Mercedes Benz C300 4Matic









I have yet to test drive this, but I like the luxurious look to this vehicle.

Anyone have any experience with owning a Mercedes?

Thoughts on any other AWD vehicles? Subaru, Audi, Fords?

I would never buy a Mercedes. Not that they aren't well built cars, but you're going to be paying a lot for the name when there are other great vehicles for much less. So if a status symbol is important then go for it. I see them all the time and don't really think of them as much more than a expensive car. That's just me though. Like what was already mentioned. You'll be over paying for services and all sorts of nonsense.

Id much rather have an Audi, or VW for that matter. A Lexis IS is a nice car. But you're kinda paying for the name even with those. I guess I am just too practical. Buy a nicer Audi R4 or RS4. You'll pay less and get more. Just my .02

There are also a ton of different technology in AWD cars. Believe it or not the Lancer EVO has one of the best AWD systems ever made. Some systems can be sensitive, it terms that even replacing tires not all at once can throw the system off. Id love to have an AWD car though. They will subtract from you're fuel efficiency due to more mechanical drag from transferring the power to all wheels.

I work for Chevy but it like Subaru sharp cars (not the wagons).
When Mercedes break good luck paying repair bills.
Sorry not fan of vw or Audi.

I'm 27 and have bought used cars since I was 16, $4,000 was the most I have ever spent on a vehicle. I currently own a 1999 Ford Crown Vic, which is why I'm looking for something a bit better, because traveling to work everyday kills me on gas.

I don't specifically want a Mercedes, this 2010 C300 is going for just over $21,000 and has the 4Matic drive, so it definitely peeked my interest. I live in CT so I need something that can handle the rough winters.

I do really like Audi but from what I have read/heard tons of people say they are unreliable cars and will cost an arm and a leg to repair.

I also like Subaru and that would probably be the most cost efficient and logical choice, it's just everyone I know owns one and I tend to like to be different then the herd of sheep. Although everyone may own a Subaru because they are indeed dependable vehicles.

Subarus are great cars. WRX is great you dont need an STi to be happy.

I agree with above. Mer is not worth the money and hassle. You need to compare it to another vehicle you like.

If you can afford $300 oil changes and $1000 brake jobs then do it, its a a lot of car for the money. Replacing a head light can also be costly, a lot of tools for these newer german cars only the dealers have. i drive an 05 volvo, not flashy but still a nice comfortable semi-luxurious car, plus i never get pulled over, im a grey man in it

The best bang for your buck is a loaded Acura. Inexpensive maintenance and great resale value.

i used to have a subaru wrx. loved it. not a single problem till after 5 yrs, and even then, it was really minor thing like a worn out belt, worn out engine sensor, vibrating gear level... cost me less than $500 and it good as new again.
