It's because if the bodybuilder isn't sponsored they're only making money for themselves hence the reason random people aren't giving them handouts or paying for their expenses.

When you're an athlete that's helping an organization thrive and make more money it's a WHOLE DIFFERENT BALLPARK. At that point, you can almost expect to not have to pay for anything and get paid more because you're actually helping a whole organization thrive rather than just yourself.

Im sorry but IMO based on many posts you have made you posses a very narrow, ignorant view of how things in the real world actually work. I don't even know what that means. I've done more research and it's an extremely selfish sport and it's virtually undeniable. They don't earn a fraction as much, because they aren't bringing a fraction as much in for other people. This is with the exception of the top tier bodybuilders who have sponsors and are signed. But for people that were at Rich Piana's level, it's not even worth it. He would probably agree with me too. He's even said he's spent 15-20k on his body for each show and he didn't even get a trophy or place.
