I started out with an 18 gauge needle and a 10 ml syringe. Just to get used to it. 10 ml is nothing, but it helps you get over the quesy factor. I've only done a full pint twice. I found that my hematocrit number stays in range if I keep the doses low and avoid EQ. That's easier than having to remove your own blood.

I can't donate through the Red Cross anymore, so I have to either do it myself or find a doctor who will write a phlebotomy prescription. Or give up on running heavier cyles and get regular bloodwork to check hematocrit and RBC levels.
