I agree that there are countless vets who are and were heroes. I have veterans in my family who died or were severely wounded fighting for what really equated to our national safety (WW2, fellas). They didn't blab about their heroics and sacrifices in order to wallow in the glory or to make money by embellishing with B.S. stories. They didn't snipe enemies from a safe distance and then laugh about it on tv. My great uncle caught several machine gun wounds in his torso while creeping up on a fox nest with a grenade. He had to see the doctor regularly just to get his urethra cleaned out so he pee, since he had so much scar tissue coming out of his system- right up until he died. He didn't go around bragging about all of the Japs and Krauts he killed. He did what he had to do and didn't tell bullshit stories to glorify himself. He was a humble and brave man.
If this shallow piece of propaganda is your idea of a real American hero, you can proudly wave your flag while declaring, "Murica!!!". Kyle wasn't fighting for anyone's freedom in the Middle East, and he's no hero in by book.
Don't get sucked up into the Hollywood glamour and fiction.
