It's good to hear that you are on top of this and that you've apparently found some good doctors. From my knowledge there are two different ways to biopsy the prostate - surgically, and this way:

Transrectal biopsy of the prostate - Mayo Clinic

When I had that prostate scare I had a conversation with my urologist about my options, I learned that the above is by far a more common procedure and much easier. I was surprised to learn that it takes no more than five minutes (and that's on the outside), in office with a local anesthetic. You're given a course of antibiotics to prevent infection and then sent home. As you can see, this is not surgery and consequently there is less risk of infection. My doctor's record: No infections from this procedure. I'd suggest you seriously consider it.

Curious to know if you've had an MRI done yet? If you haven't, I think you should talk to your doctor about it before you go in for that biopsy.

And a good holiday to you too.

Yes we had a conversation abot the other test and he explained and I agreed if he had a private pracice and was getting paid to run the other test he would and could ! But at my age even of 55 he said with no biospy no way to know for sure and why not have peace of mind and put it behind me ! I go this week to discuss with private uroligist that takes VA $$ and Ins and charges nothig for ansestia and I had 2 men tell me inhuman stories about the local numbing and the infection comes from the pin pricks ( 12 ) and going to the bath romm could in few cases cause infewction !

So if I can get knocked out and meds in Hospital for 3 days I will take that ! Just call me a wussy ! I felp like I got raped at the phycial exam !

I clicked on the link ! They make it loook so simple and it hurts like no tomorrow ! Never heard on guy even say not that bad I coould tolorate it was HELL !

Yeah. I suppose there are pros and cons to any procedure we choose. We just have to take our best shot and do what we feel most comfortable with. Whatever you do, Buzz, you're in my prayers.
