Don't downplay the hazards. Even one exposure to air is enough for thousands of microbes to enter. Most organisms have very short generation times, ~30mins for E. coli.
Couple that with the right ester that contains appropriate metabolites and it being stored at a dandy room temperature, perfect for mesophiles. You'll find yourself with an infection easier than you think.
Will you die? No, but it'll make it hard to work that muscle out once infection sets in. Trust in your ability to replicate the techniques of Spallanzani if you wish.
I'm just overly cautious because I work in a lab and for EMS part-time.
