Good luck.. keep it together man
Haven't updated in a long while. Transplant happened months ago and recovery ever since. Recovery went really well, rough at times, but overall he recovered really quickly.
So, today he is back at the cancer center for his post transplant scan. Basically this will tell us whether or not the transplant work. If it worked, he should be cancer free forever, if it didn't, then he'll have to do another transplant, this time with a donor. Today's a very big day, and we're all very nervous, send thoughts and prayers if you can, and I'll update again after we get the results this evening.
Thoughts, prayers and best wishes from me!
Thanks Prox.. Appreciate you manOriginally Posted by Proximal

I'm just beside myself right now and can't tell you how happy and grateful I am for my brother and so thankful that he'll be able to live his life now without cancer.
Crazy ride for him. Multiple surgeries, multiple rounds of chemo, radiation, stem cell transplant, and recovery. This is the best news ever. Thanks to everyone who showed their support here. It means more than you know and you all helped me get through some dark times and moments. Appreciation is an understatement.
Time to go celebrate. Need to hit the gym first, then celebrate!

That's terrible. the idea of loosing someone so young is just mind blowing all by itself.
over the years i've lost touch with a lot of my family but I just found out my favorite non blood relative died some months back. Cancer took her 2 weeks after her and her family found out. She was so awesome. [here's to you, Maryann] A couple of weeks ago my father called me freaking out because my grandfather, in mid 70s, was throwing up for ten days straight. my father thought he was dying and so did I. makes most people think doesn't it.
we aren't here for very long and sometimes we leave abruptly. Everything we were just gone. I personally don't believe in a here after. tell your bro to be strong whatever he believes. i find more comfort in believing that there is nothing after this except the abyss of oblivion. i don't mean to be a downer.
this type of thinking is just my preferred perspective, but with all that said we still have emotions and loosing someone so close still hurts. This hurt in most cases is unavoidable because we are human. i compartmentalize some things so i can be more comfortable with them. This is a distraction/rationalization from emotion of all kinds. people write all kinds of books on the power of attitude and perspective. it helps.
i apologize for any offence this post may have caused.
god damn it. i just found out this post is ancient.
Congratulations!

That post was from just the other day. Thread was started years ago during my brother's first battle with cancer. No worries, Soul. I respect your perspective. You're absolutely right, that one minute you can be here, and the next you're not, so live your life the way you want to live it.Originally Posted by SOULSELL

I called him yesterday and he said he's been eating sushi like twice a day lol. (Not allowed to eat it during treatment or after stem cell). It's his favorite thing and hadn't been able to eat it for a long time.![]()
