Hello Fresh, and other food delivery places

Anyone try Hello Fresh? They basically deliver a recipe with all the ingredients you need. At first I thought it was kind of silly because you can go to the store and get whatever. But I also know that I end up throwing away a ton of food because I simply get too much. Even salt and pepper is provided in exact quantities needed, so there is no waste.

I think I want to try it, anyone use similar services?

My wife actually ordered a few weeks worth of the meals. We just finished with the last week. The meals are diversified and quite good, I do not think we had a bad meal. The instructions are realy nice and you get to use many ingredients you may not normally use. The only drawback is once in a while the meal portion was just adequate, but the wife never eats all of hers so I always came out good. :-)

Where do you get that price? That's why I haven't used any. Too expensive. The ones I've seen, you can get take out for the same amount of money with 0 work

Wife said she got 6 meals, 3 dinners delivered for $56. Hello Fresh. That's under $20 a meal. We can't (and don't like to) eat out for that.

By serving. But they are small servings. Plan on 2 servings for a non skinny jean wearing man.

And it’s a commitment. The prep and cook time cane be an hour or more. We stopped because if something comes up and you don’t have the time you put it off. Then your a meal behind and the next order comes. 3 meals a week worked best for us. And you don’t have to spend (ex) $10 for rice wine at the store for 1 recipe that you will never use in a year. Everything comes in single serve portion.

We do blue apron a few times a year. The food is pretty good and it gives us a chance to try new things for a minimal amount of money. I like that I can try new seasonings and tastes in small quantities, it kills me when a recipe calls for a 1/8 teaspoon of 5 spices we don't own.... but yes, the meals are small for me, perfect for her.

I will say we've stolen a few Asian food recipes that are now part of our routine meals.

You should try it.

We use home chef, pretty good. We typically get 3 meals a week, at 2 servings a meal. I think its $60. No commitment, wife just gets on their site and picks what she wants for the next week, and they ship it. Prep time is usually around a hour, but the meals are really good, and you can pick meals based on macros

I use to use Icon Meals when I was competing. I found that I let a lot of meals go un-ate before I got to my next delivery. It was about 7.50 a meal back then. I just got to the store and load up on Sundays now. Comes out to less than 3 dollars a meal.

We have this thing called DoorDash. Pretty much any restaurant, reasonable delivery. The stove, BBQ & oven are going to waste.

I really rather control food. It sounds fun on occasion...be afraid of hidden calories.

We have tried about all of them except Purple Carrot. Sin Basket was one of our favorites and their customer service is spot on. One of our chicken meals was leaking in the package so we emailed them about it and we got $25 off our next order.
