I feel for you, mine stays that way. The blood bank at the hospital here never has any issues with my high hemoglobin, but the clinic that pays for donations is pretty strict about it

First two years I did this even after huge cycles my hemoglobin never got over 16.

I seriously believe the need for donation is very person dependant.
Mine wont be getting this high again.
I been so damn outta breath and bp so high I am fortunate I didn't kick over in the sun.

I am in a super good mood now.

....and hydrate with water or light electrolytes. When my hematocrit gets on the mid 50s, my breathing is so off. Post donation I feel like I can draw fresh oxygen all of the way down to my toes.
So add the high hematocrit to the clotting disorder, I try to keep hematocrit under the mid 50s.
