protesting is fine, i support it, not blocking streets and attacking cars.

in my area the protests have been on sidewalks and private streets.
i love that shit, but blocking the highway in rush time traffic, thats bullshit and not peaceful

hating things about the country and hating the country are two different things.

Therein lies the problem. You’re following an assumption made by the author. “You really seem to hate it here” is just that, an assumption.
As you rightly put, you can hate specific things about any nation, political theory, methodology, etc. etc. without finding it irredeemable. I have yet to hear a single person, outside of the occasional extremist wonk stating that they hate the entirety of this nation an its structure. What is being targeted are very specific issues, which is the entire point of protest.
Of course, you are going to get the occasional (usually teenager or young 20s) asshole who sees this stuff and uses it as a justification for taking out their problematic hormonal rage in ways that aren’t exactly helpful to any cause. Assuming (there’s that word again) that their silly bullshit makes up the roots of any movement is patently absurd.
Are there legitimate terrorist organizations? Of course. Are they even a good sized majority of what we’re seeing right now? Absolutely not.
Remember, it’s always the following generation that has lead and will continue to lead progress into every generation. The “get off my lawn” nonsense happens with every aging generation, and it’s never going to stop, so I’m not expecting that.
Remember, we’re often led from behind, because the elderly are the most prominent voters. The young usually have shit to do (work, raise children, etc.) so their voice often goes ignored. The Covid shutdowns have allowed a shitload of free time for people to A: dwell on things, and B: act upon these dwellings.
If the shutdowns are still in place in November, I expect to see some interesting shifts. I wouldn’t be shocked to see them lifted soon before though.

In regards to that I found out that in my state(for now) your vehicle is a weapon of opportunity if you feel threatened. Meaning if someone is trying to forcefully remove you from your car you can justifiably run their asses over. Always important to know the laws in your area. Lol
