You should have had a pre-op briefing during which they would have told you specifically what to take and what not to. Most of the no-nos are things that can thin the blood or promote bleeding, like aspirin and fish oil. As litigious as America is today I find it very suspicious that they did not give you specific instructions beforehand.

I personally know someone who didn't have his tonsils and adenoids removed until he was an adult. He experienced uncontrolled bleeding so they had to cauterize the wounds. That means they stuck the medical equivalent of a soldering iron into his throat and burned the bleeding closed. Also touched his lower lip with it and burned the hell out of his lip.
