A court filing from week-before-last proposes to break up Remington's assets among several players.
If approved, Ruger would get Marlin, Vista Outdoor gets Remington ammo, JJE Holdings gets DPMS, AAC, Stormlake, Parker and H&R, Franklin Armory gets Bushmaster, Sierra bullets gets Barnes. and Sportsman's Warehouse gets Tapco.
Which looks pretty good to me because none of these jumps out to me as someone who has bought the company just so they could manage it to death.
What does jump out at me is that Remington managed to acquire Bushy & DPMS (ARs), Marlin, H&R and Parker (sporting arms), Stormlake (pistol barrels), AAC (suppressors), Barnes bullets and Tapco optics -- plus Remington firearms and Remington-branded ammunition -- and even with such a diverse portfolio, and despite there've been ~235 MILLION firearms sold in the US in the most recent 10 years, ... they couldn't turn a profit.
