Anyone else RV?

9 months? Wow!

That’s a sweet setup! I recently bought an RV this summer but was only able to take two trips in it thus far. Really excited for next summer though and am already planning some trips with the family. I’m still terrible at backing it up and averaging 9 MPG in my Tundra is taking some getting used to

Most importantly it’s family fun and it feels like an adventure every trip we’ve taken it out (minimal though) and best of all, my two boys love it! I bought a 30’ bunkhouse.

I’ll be honest, it’s bigger than I had planned but it’s not like my kids are going to get any smaller. Also learning it’s good to have handyman skills!

30' is pretty impressive for a Toyota and 9mpg isn't bad for towing with gasoline. Mine is right at 40. The ram 2500 gets about 11mpg towing it on the highway. After going diesel I don't think i could ever own another gasoline truck again despite the higher maintenance cost. We don't really consider what we do camping, only conveniences we're missing from home really is a washer and dryer.(have hookups and a spot for them we just like the storage space instead)
Its also funny that you mention having good handyman skills. Something breaks in our RV just about every time we move it, which is usually every 3 months. I started my own Mobile RV repair business and was doing fairly well at it before covid, now I just take a few repairs here and there for extra cash.
If we had kids we woulda looked at a bunkhouse as well but our kid is grown, so she gets the couchbed if she visits

As for backing up, we all suck at it at first. The 2nd time i backed this one into a campsite i backed it up too far and into a tree limb and shattered the back window. After making that 800 dollar mistake I found a large empty parking lot late and night and practiced pulling up and backing up straight till i got the hang of it.
