We are currently in Sweden!



Started the journey in Upstate NY (St. Lawrence County) in a tiny town (A few houses really). Stayed there until I started working. Got bored and went back to school. Got a scholarship and headed out to Sweden for 1-year. Met my future wife there. She wanted to get her Ph.D (me not so much) so we went to Cornell in Ithaca, NY. Went from there to SoCal (UCLA) where she did a PostDoc. Got a job in Germany after that so spent about 5 years there. While she was working there I worked in Berlin and then headed out to Kenya for 1 year. After that, we moved to India and spent the past 7-years there. Now, we just moved here to Sweden but not sure about staying. Might move to Denmark in a couple of years but that is not clear yet. About sums it up.

Have you ever had to worry about whether or not you could eat tomorrow? Or how you would pay for life or death medical care? Or how you would protect what you had from being robbed or stolen? How you could keep your woman safe by yourself? How to keep your family safe when you could not be there?

Well sir, for the sake of candor, I'll admit it's not really a question in the sense that I'm seeking an answer. Because I already know the answer, and you already know that.

So you called it correctly saying you seen a question behind the question.

My real question is, can you see where another man is coming from, even if you don't agree?

Most liberals have been to similar places that you mentioned, and few liberals have been to the places I mentioned. Or at least, once they have, they tend to no longer be liberals.

So it creates this sort of divide that we see every day even here. Educated liberals in thier smugness and sort of circular reaffirmation think they know about things they don't experience or live with. And conservatives fail to see the intent of liberals and focus on the folly.

Whereas it comes to my mind, that I believe y'all mean well, and in your mind have good intentions. Like trying to call out a man for racism for example.
The problem is, most of you don't understand what any of it really is or means in practice. Because you've learned all about it, and you've heard all about it. But most of you don't have to live with it, and have never really seen it.


So it just seems to me, like if we take the good intentions and desire to help people from one group, and look at the problem through the unfiltered eyes of the other group, then we've got a better chance of getting along and prospering.

And it starts with mutual respect.

So the question is: can you see where a man is coming from, even if you don't agree? Amd if not, can you try to understand?

You call it what you want sir. But the fact is Donald Trump had more support among the black and Latino voters than any republican since Abraham Lincoln. That can only mean many of them did indeed vote republican, And that support continues to grow , as Donald Trump tore the mask off the democrat party. People are awakening to the reality of what they are.

Support will continue to grow. I myself used to be union man and a staunch democrat. I voted strictly democrat for 14 years. Then my eyes got opened and I got the red pill. #walkaway is real sir.

I have to say something though and I mean it simply as my observation (and I could be completely wrong). I think you pigeonhole people a lot and make assumptions regarding where you think that they are coming from. From our years of talks, my friend and I have tried to break that habit and I feel it has benefited both of us. I know it’s elevated the quality of our talks immensely.

I know I have those faults. I do pigeon hole people sometimes and make assumptions. I also come off alot as callous and abrasive. Especially so when I'm talking to certain people.

I spend most of time around pretty rough men. I try to remember we're not normal and when I deal with people outside that element, I try to tone it down, But I don't always tone it down enough.

No man, didn’t mean it to be a fault or a criticism!

It’s like if I was sitting with my friend, if we’d say something like that to each other, we each understand it as not a critique but just an observation and like yourself take it to heart and immediately consider it.

I hear you, there are times we have to act differently as much as we’d like to be 100% true to our nature. My first job in the south side of Chicago was an eye opener, but I adjusted and got along just great. But their f’n girlfriends could still out drink me sometimes! Drinking for 8 hours straight, easily 12 + beers down and they want to do more shots? Thank god I have a liver of iron.
