    AK Owners

There’s going to be a huge run on 7.62x39 (x54)

Biden just banned Russian ammo for the next 12 months at a minimum.

    Find what you can…

No more Wolf and Tula for a while.

(Mods, can you edit the title for me to “AK”, no clue why it autocorrected to AL” lol. FML)

I had a post on here about this already

It was impossible to find ammo here for months, they had nothing on the shelves for months apparently. . . That’s the #1 reason we don’t go shooting anymore.

Thankfully, I can prob hold up a zombie apocalypse for months on in

    It's still available, but pricey.
Personally, I prefer the Yugo surplus stuff over Silver Bear, Brown Bear, etc. brands.
If I don't buy Yugo, I'll snag Tula or Wolf.

Oh ammo has been ridiculous for a while now and the way that the primary ammunition companies have been exporting overseas is ridiculous as well as the increased demand with Covid and record prices.

That in itself is a travesty. One of the few saving graces was that you could find relatively cheap steel cased 7.62 ammo for which my AK’s could care less about. I don’t feel bad feeding them cheap Russian or yugo surplus steel slathered in lacquer…

Well now that’s become impossible too because our commander in chief implemented this ban, which has caused a run on ALL AK rounds and reinvigorated 5.56 loyalists to go on another buying binge.

I watch ammo prices closely because I too like to go plink with the family but get itchy if I fall below a couple thousand rounds for the “who knows what doomsday scenarios”.

The run on ammo these last 18 months has been unprecedented and now it’s reached a secondary feverish pitch with this ridiculous ban that went into effect yesterday. It had trickledown ramifications and made what was horrible even worse!

I've been looking for large (non-military) rifle primers for months. Seems like I'm always 5 minutes late when I find some listed.

These primers are for my .270 Win, and the military large file primers are just a tad too hard to provide reliable ignition in most hunting rifles with a decent trigger and firing pin spring load.

I did decide I needed to shift my scope out just a slosh more than I anticipated, so I had to go back and relevel the reticle to the action. Soon as I get fully released from the Neuro, I'll go dial it in.

My local reloading store has them for sale. Problem is they're $20 for a single sleeve and I'm not willing to pay that much for 100 primers.

Ouch, I don't blame you. I'm used to like $68-$75/1000, so it may be a while before I can bring myself to pay much over $12/100.

I have a decent amount, but as soon as our oppressive humidity drops, I wasn to load up some of my regular loads and also try out these 90 grain .270Win bullets I bought. :

Before the plandemic, I was getting 1000 Winchester brand for like $35 (even less at the gun shows). Since the ammo scare happened though, I've consciously spent more effort on trimming the brass, annealing and seating the bullets to the maximum for my guns. I've also been spending more time with the chronograph and trying to get the bullets to be as consistent as possible. Because now every shot counts and we can't have any flyers.

Pretty much the same here, the $68-$75 was throwing all of the Hazmat on the primers and not shopping around online or getting lucky local.

I've only ever bought primers online when the plandemic started and before stores had any stock. But now that they know we'll pay $200+ for 1000 primers, they're going to keep charging us those rates. The whole goal for Biden and the ATF is to make the 2a cost prohibitive to the average man.

Got a couple of projects out of the way despite it being miserably hot. Still have a few more I'd like to knock out but I think I may need to cut grass today.

Rain + max humidity = Bermuda grass and fescue on tren.
Have the reticles leveled and ~ boresighted. Probably wait till the neuro releases me before I dial in the .270Win.

Edit: I would've stuck this post in the firearms thread, but I'm a bit occupied at the moment.

Oh great. At least the last AK I built is 5.56… Not that that is much more attainable.

Yeah I'm glad I've got my musket and ball and cap revolver. Caps are relatively easy to get ahold of still and the only thing my local store never runs out of is FFF and FF black powder (and its substitutes). I still can go to the range and get my fix in when I need to let off a little steam. I just hate cleaning it afterwards.

I haven’t shot much at all this year because of the cost of ammo, if and when you can even find it. Just knowing every time I pull the trigger it’s costing me 50 cents lol. I actually did a side job the other day and the guy paid me in ammo lol

Man, could you imagine being on a firing line during the Revolutionary War, all the smoke/smudge in the air compromising your vision, and trying to reload? Total chaos.

They say a skilled soldier could fire 2 aimed shots per minute while having people shooting at them. I can't get one down range under a minute, when I have a bench holding my stuff and nobody shooting at me. Add to that the fact I'd nervous as hell, I'd never get a shot loaded before they'd kill me.

They trained a lot to do that, but there is no way I'd ever be capable of doing that let alone crazy enough to.

With no rifling in their barrels either…literally a volley every time they fired. I remember the first time deer hunting with a traditional “Hawkeye” black power rifle (ball and patch)…huge cloud of smoke, delay in the ignition and no clue if I hit the deer that was 30 yards in front of me.

It’s funny to think the Brits would get so upset with the revolutionary soldiers for not standing shoulder to shoulder and imploring “guerrilla” tactics”.

    My how times have changed
