Therapeutic self phlebotomy, has anyone tried it? Just curious!

Hello everyone,

I would dream to do a self phlebotomy myself alone at home but :

1) I have no idea how to do it
2) I have no material

I could eventually pay to get help, does anybody here could coach me for that ? I tried in my bathroom in the bathtub with just a needle. I thought it was going to flow easily but I had a lot of issues :

1) I missed the vein 5 times
2) When I hit the vein, the needle was too deep and after too close and left the vein and only 1 mL dropped
3) It has bleeded INSIDE my arm and left a huge dark spot deep inside.

It's sooo hard to do, is there any tutorial ?

Also is it supposed to flow outside the vein or you are supposed to do something special ? like having a tube and aspirate to get negative pressure, or anything else ?


You will laugh but...... I pin inside ma nose with a needle after I disinfect with ethanol and let it bleed drop after drop in a graduated bottle while watching a movie. After 3 hours I have 450 mL / 1 pint

Man, I think you may have more issues than needing to dump some blood going on
