    Interesting... REALLY interesting...

    True or False???

I don't have time to search or comment, as I have to leave for Saturday classes at the university...

    Later gents.
Hard to say. He may have gone dark and then these events gave him purpose or he felt like that was where he belonged.

From what info was released, it looks like he put in some good years, so that's how I'll choose to remember that name

AG, I agree with you here.

It was again, not surprising that our modern day, dare I call them; journalists, got their wording wrong AGAIN; being LATE is obviously AWOL status, but how I always understood the UCMJ, after 30 days you are declared a deserter, NOT fucking AWOL after several years of absence...

Furthermore, nowadays, with the mechanisms of control in place, once you go to deserter status, you can't be stopped by the police or receive/renew a passport without popping up on their screens. After 9/11 the govt. implemented the so called Criminal Watchlist, and a deserter is automatically on that list with a warrant for arrest. Most likely, he had a valid passport when he skated out...

    Interesting.

Edit: One perspective. I couldn't find the podcast so it's a YouTube link. Worth listening to, IMHO. You may have to jump forward some to hear about special warfare operator "Dan Swift".

I saw a shortened version of DC's address on the Dan Swift matter, but I haven't the time to check this one.

Looks like DC comes out basically in support of, or seriously considering both sides of Swift's decision to abscond his domestic violence charges (the catalyst for leaving the navy and the country), via first Thailand (as an English teacher working primarily with children, which DC says Swift missed his 5 kids) then meeting his demise in Ukraine.

If in fact Swift did flee, then that doesn't really bode well for his innocence... Couple that with his radical decision to abandon 5 children (this is what I heard, that he had 5 kids) and desert from the navy... Shows me that he fit right into some aspects of the SPECWAR mindset.

Yeah, I was kind of wondering if all of the domestic issues, etc. were working on his mind and he headed to a "familiar" environment or he felt he was undoing some of the chaos he created in his personal life. Hard to say.

I still respect the man for his good years, but the part about leaving children behind is just a f-in shame.

Yeah, I am on the same page with you here, AG; I gotta respect his "warrior" accomplishments. For me, it's a stretch trying to justify his deserting (both his children and the service), but we all deal with our demons in our own ways...

In the short version / Instagram version by Rep. Dan Crenshaw, he talks about how the domestic violence charges may not be as cut and dried, as black and white as our first impression (hearing the charge "domestic violence") leads us to believe. Not only did I have to deal with this issue as a senior NCO, approximately once a month with one of my guys, but I was arrested, cuffed, charged, had to defend myself in court; all because some ex-stripper, silicone-tit-bitch (But those bolt-ons were fun for the whole family... I would get done with her, and you could see bruises on her boobs from my finger tips. Apparently, when they cut around the areola, they severed some nerves and she couldn't feel how hard I was squeezing her. She was a great fuck though. Personified the old adage: Crazy in the bed; crazy in the head.) called the cops during one of our many drunken disputes. So I have to agree with Rep. Crenshaw; the charges my or may not have been factual; but fleeing the country, absconding on an arrest warrant, doesn't loan itself well as far as his possible innocence is concerned. As far as Team Guys go; none of them are cut from the same bolt of cloth, and they are oftentimes quite prone to implementing the more radical of solutions to a problem.

The late Dan Swift must have had a valid passport when he decided to fly the coop, to pull the ol'Houdini, as he would most likely be unable to board a plane being on the National Criminal Watchlist for desertion. In any event, if he was on a quest for adventure, he certainly achieved his goal in Ukraine. God rest his soul.
