gloves for me. i get callouses real easy without them. call it girly, but hey, it gets the girls. out of 5 different girls i'd been with before i used gloves, not one liked the callouses at all. actually, all of them found it really annoying and said it was quite uncomfortable when i'd be touching/fondling them when i had the callouses.

so you guys thinking they're "manly" and that they will somehow accomplish anything for you, think again. won't do anything for showing off either as who the hell will be looking at your hands? if you have people looking at your hands as opposed to your biceps, chest, etc, you need to be lifting more and stop focusing on your manly, rough callouses guys.

all callouses did for me was annoy me and make me eventually pick at them when they got too big. then you look like an idiot all day picking at your hands and others have no idea what you're doing. next thing, people say you have obsessive compulsive disorder or something. trust me guys, there are plenty of good legitimate reasons to use gloves other than being "girly".

Never wear gloves, but they(heavy gloves like ronnie wears) will make your grip stronger when doing pulling exercises. Same concept as thick bar curls or deads.

used to wear gloves the very first few months i started working out. had the same problem, i still got callouses when wearing thm. so i havent worn them since. i also agree that the extra layer b/w ur skin and the bar can make it more dificult to grip.
