Baking is baking...like what you do to cookies. Heating (baking) the gear to sterilize it. People will tell you to bake it at say 250 degrees for 20 min to kill bacteria. Dry heat sterilization is iffy at best and I would rather do it the way you did than to trust baking. In order for heat to be effective you need steam and pressure (this is what an autoclave does). You ca sterilize gear in an autoclave at 250 degrees for 25 min....up to about 4 liters at once depending on how it is packaged and how large you autoclave is. But remeber that the autoclave uses steam and pressure along with heat which is much more effecient than dry baking (like in an oven).
In short Baking gear is the most risky way of sterilizing IMO.
