Personally, I'd much rather get tased than pepper sprayed. A few seconds of getting zapped and it's over, but pepper spray takes much longer to wear off and it sucks. Yeah, tasers can cause death in those with heart conditions, but pepper spray can also cause death for people with asthma. Bottom line is, they both suck. At least with the taser, the perp (or in this case, child) goes down quick and can be restrained in a timely manner. People who get pepper sprayed tend to lash and flail about like a mad animal trying to get that stuff outta their eyes.
What I hate about the news report was the mother's second hand information. She wasn't there and doesn't know for sure what happened. Maybe the kid deserved it, maybe she didn't...we weren't there and we don't know either.
I will say that from personal experience, mentally handicapped kids are strong as fvck. When I was 13, one of the special ed boys went wild on the playground and tackled a special ed girl. He began dry humping her ass like there was no tomorrow and it took 4 grown men to pull him off. According to the girl's mom, she has the mental capacity of a 5-year-old. She probably doesn't know her own strength and popped the resource officer pretty good. However, does that merit getting tased? I don't know. World ain't what it used to be. Children nowadays seem to have lost their innocence, but maybe I'm just remembering things differently when I was a kid.
