5'11 225 max bench 405...The rep challenge is a hard thing alot of you should try..I know guys benching their bodyweight for 50+reps...

Our newest challenge amonst us lifting partners is...225 pds for 100 reps within five sets...No matter how many at a time..20-20-20-20-20 or 30-30-20-10-10 however...The closest one of us got was 20-20-20-18-11...Its not easy....

Well Im not a powerlifter so its not that big of a concern. At around 225-227 lbs maxed at 350 lbs. I would like to get up to 405 on my 2nd cycle.

Figured i'd throw my .02 in here

I'm dieting and havent maxed for a long long time...for me it's now about the "look" not the strength..

    However;

When i was trying to get the bench up i was

    190-200lbs...

    10X 135
    10X 225
    8X 255
    6X 275
    2X 315

That's the closest I ever got... I know one time, i wanted to see what I could do, and warmed up with 135 for about 8 slow reps, then hit 315 for 6 reps...but they were quick ones, not slow and controled like now.

Best ever was last April while I was bulking...250 lbs 600 bench - it was 585 prior but I made it an even 600 and got it. In case anyone was wondering that is 6 - 45's on each side. Yes it was a gym lift not a comp but there were several witnesses who watched....in awe

Now I'm 235 and am focusing on getting cut so I'm not going to be benching like that for awhile....I did get 495 a few times a couple weeks ago though so I haven't lost that much strentgh but I doubt I could get 600 now and frankly I don't even want to try. I've been doing alot of heavy dumbell work and push-ups lately and my chest is actually looking much fuller.

For any flamers, cause I know there will be some, do a search on all my posts since I've been a member here....they have always been consistent with the numbers I posted above. But if that isn't enough for you then you'll just have to take my word for it cause I really don't care regardless

That's awesome! But if you went down to 495 from 600 i'd say you lost a good deal of strength. But still 495 is still fuckin awesome! Great job!

Well I did it twice - not sure how much more I could have lifted but it was more for a couple of my buddies who "challenged" me to do it...otherwise I just stop at 405 for a couple reps and go back down the same way I came up like the pyramid technique.

I do not bench anymore but when I powerlifted these were some of my PR's.

    165lbs Bodyweight

225x23-this was a raw lift in the gym(best high rep set ever)
275x11-this was a raw lift in the gym(2nd place)
300x6-this was a raw lift in the gym
315x4-this was a raw lift in the gym
335x1-this was a raw lift in the gym

These are some of my personal best gym lifts all done without the use of a bench shirt. This wasnt all in one workout either, this is just some PR's I pulled out of my old training log.

My best gym lift using a bench press shirt(single ply poly) was 365x1
My best competition lift using a bench press shirt(single ply poly) was 350x1

I use DB's and I pushed the 120's last week. Anyone use DB's? After my cycle I want 140's!

    I have a 10" penis.

Lol I think comparing benches is just an ego booster like dick size, it really doesn't matter, most guys inflate their numbers.

    I agree!
My bench is not what it should be - I am shooting for an end of cycle bench to be about 1.4 to 1.5 times my body weight. Hopefully with some cutting that would put me at 205 and around 295-305 for a few reps maybe max cleanly at 315 for one good one. I think that is possibel from 245 for 5 - 4 of them cleanly without a spot. 16 weeks of cycle and hardwork - 50-55lbs on the bench - seems possible to me. Hey I can't move 350 and not going to say it. Those that say this isn't a good measure of strength overall- well it isn't - cuz it only messures chest - but it is a damn good one for chest. If you want to talk squats or deads or clean and jerk or whatever else - start your own thread and poll and all that. Most people on here that are not new members and have posted "real" pics I would imagin they tell the truth. I hope so - I see alot of progess from those that I believe are "real" and alot of advise from those that have been on here a while and worked out for a while. All of this of course is JMO.

During the summer of 1999, I benched pressed 425 lbs, I was at 227 and three quarter pounds, I could also run the 40 in 4.8. I hope to get back to where I was, I had a Lumbar Laminectomy done 8 weeks ago, I had a disk herniation at L5-S1 and ruptured the disk. My goal used to be to bench press 450 at 225, now my goal is just to be able to walk around pain free.

hey guys, im only a short dude 5'6 weighing 60kg (132lb) been training for over a yr or so and can push out at least 200% my bodyweight (120kg / 264lbs) 4 times

ive never really tried just one max rep but id prob be about 130-135kg. not 2 sure.

Alot of the guys whove posted up have massive "weight/bench" ratios. =)

when i maxed i started at 225 reped til failure about 7 reps
and added ten pounds on each time till i hit 255 repping out each time and then added on five pounds because i only got one rep by myself and a second rep with a spotter so i was guessing i can probably do 275 i really dont know i dont max much in fact that was the only time i have ever tried to max i dont work out to try and lift as much weight as i can i do it to look good to me maxing is a waist of a work out.....but i am new at this so i wouldnt be hurt if i was corrected....so if you think i should max i would like to hear more info
