This is why I wanted to update you MS.

Very informative here. And I'm very weary of the shots. My wife thinks before her first surgery that the second round of shots missed and pushed her over the edge which led to surgery.

Let me see if I can upload the MRI and pm. I also have a "moving X-ray" where they took a X-ray with me bending forward and backward.

    1) A good chiropractor that got my back aligned properly (also leveled my hips & I no longer need a heel lift in one shoe)
    2) I do daily traction therapy
    3) I do lots of lower back conditioning work, glut-ham raises, reverse hypers (my favorite), & lots of Ab work as well.
I know this is an old post but I would love to find a good used Westside B'bell or Rogue reverse hyperextension machine. I had access to one for about 8 months when I tore the lower portion of one of my spinal erectors and it was a huge blessing.
The reverse hyper machine are f-in awesome at strengthening and providing a nice even stretch of of the posterior.

MS so I'm about 3 months post surgery.

Never used one, but curious how a belt would help with my situation right now. I'm cleared to lift again, but obviously low weight high reps type of thing, so I'm not even sure if it's worth it or not?

At three months The belt reminds you to mind your posture which is most of the positive effect of wearing a belt. Basically like kinesio tapping and such. Propeocieptive feedback.

One that conforms to the back, and is broad and not narrow.

MS, what is your opinion regarding the use of inversion decompression (think Teeter HangUp) for general spinal health and addressing mild back and spinal issues?

I generally think they are helpful. Never go more than 45 degree inversion as it's a bit worthless after that. If you have poor range of motion or a lot of old injury and adhesions I think it's important to have periodic spinal manipulation from your DO or Chiro to keep your intersegmental range of motion healthy. If you have a lot of scar tissue or adhesions around the joint, the inversion table typically will be less effective at that level. Yoga to some extent can help with that but for example if you have an old injury at the t10-t11 joint segment. It obviously needs more attention than other areas in order for it to stay healthy and not prematurely age or degenerate fast than the rest of the spine.

How we instructed patients to use inversion at home was this.

Start to invert until you feel the segment or segments you are looking to decompress. Once you feel that segment open up, stop increasing the inversion and let it hold there. At each level of inversion, you change exactly where in the spine the decompressive forces are most concentrated. 10-15 minute total is usually sufficient. I typically can't handle more than 4-5 minutes myself.

    Hope that helps.
