We are IMO in the state we are in because we in the West have walked away from God and turned to our selfish desires to satisfy only our wants & desires. We are innately evil by nature and can only be reconciled by correction and discipline.

I do love your optimism but I for one have lost faith in humanity a long time ago and can only try and be the best person I can be and raise my children in my belief system in an effort to bring them into manhood loving God & respecting people and hope they choose to continue once on their own. But I can tell you right now that if left to their desires the chances are that they would turn out to be worthless pieces of crap like so many of the youth today.
I was a pretty horrible youth myself. So I am not without blame but I at least understood my actions were wrong and my parents gave me a base to return to when I decided I had been stupid for long enough.
