As a black man what are your thoughts on Michael Jackson and his complete body face change?
Micheal Jackson was probably the most talented entertainer of our generation. Let me say that first. But it was no secret that he longed to be white and did any/everything money could buy to try to make that a reality. Including bleaching his own kids and paying a white woman to for her children to make people believe he had white children (those kids are not biracial). It pains me to see that kind of stuff. Believe it or not, this is still a bit of a problem in the black community. The lighter the skin the better the opportunity is still the perception to many blacks. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence to support this. But it can also be disputed as well. But back to Micheal Jackson. He realized his blackness real quick once he got into all that trouble with touching kids. What was the 1st thing he did when the evidence was presented? He made his 1st plea on BET. Typical. Blacks still love Micheal, but we also recognize what he did.
yeah never thought of it that way..
Because there's so many young white kids trying to be black but it sounds like if they were black they would soon regret it..
I have read a few times that lighter skinned blacks are considered more beautiful in the black community, and black woman if they have hair that is more like a white womans hair is better too. Being from San Diego I have not met to many black people so I don't know if a lot of what I read has any truth to it.
Its the mentality perpetuated by whites. Think about it. Think about every black woman most white people consider attractive. They are all light skinned with flowing, long, straight, hair. So if someone told you for your entire life that because you were dark skinned with either short hair or an Afro, or dreadlocks, you aren't beautiful, then what would you think of yourself? And it's not just women. The same applies to black men. When I was growing up, guys like LL Cool J, Will Smith, El Debarge, Prince, etc. were the hot tickets. Dark brothas always had the negative stigma of being more threatening, angry, etc. It still applies today. The Rock will get more opportunities at mainstream movies than Morris Chestnut, even though Morris is a much better actor. In politics its always been said that a lighter skinned black would stand a much better chance than a darker skinned one because of the negative stereotypes attached to dark skinned black men. I guarantee that if Barack Obama and Colin Powell weren't light skinned they wouldn't have had as much political clout. Simply Google black Republicans and you'll see every single one of them aren't much darker than a paper bag.
what do you are the major causes to of fatherless homes in the black community?
The honest answer to that question dates back to slavery. Since blacks were brought to this country, it was common place to remove men from the family to be sold or used to produce more children. The black family because of this became a very matriarchal system. From the turn of the century to around the 50s, this started changing but with the mass exodus from the south started with men leaving first. Often never returning to their families. From there, poverty, welfare, and the rate of incarceration because of the drug trade led black families to believe that often times, the man wasn't essential to the "nuclear" family. Pushed by social change in the 60's and the women's lib movement, which was strongly embraced by black women, it just furthered that idea.
makes sense. i live in a town where the demographics are basically equal and was just shocked by the number of kids i went to school and played ball with whos 'dad' was never at any games. i noticed the same thing now with my job (insurance) that i go to so few houses where there is a husband and a wife in the same home, or even a mother. its usually grandchildren in the house instead of parents. i suppose that this too is due to poverty (and teenage pregnancy)? i guess this was kinda of a segway into another question...
why dont black people use birth control?
thanks for the insight!
You kinda remind me of sugar bear, I dont mean that cause all black people look alike lol but your calm demeanor and how your respond to questions.
I think that's too broad a generalization. Are you talking about teens? Are you referring to unwed mothers in general? I think if you are referring to unwed mothers, I think a lot has to do with what I posted earlier. And remember, abortion rates in minority communities are much lower than those of white communities. There isn't as much of a negative stigma placed on teen and unwed mothers amongst minorities as it is among whites. So there is no way to tell whether blacks or whites use birth control more often. Now I'm sure when it comes to socioeconomics, you'll find that the poor, black or white, have high rates of teen pregnancy. And usually birth control is a cost and access issue.
Lol well if you want my advice on that I think its some weird subconcious evolutionary system.
I mean its already been hypothesized countless times that a bigger penis will get a woman pregnant faster than a smaller one. Considering that, and the seemingly high pregnancy rates for black female teens, I sense any race that is a minority just wants to populate faster. I mean look at hispanics too, they fvck like bunnies nonstop. I don't think this is something anyone actually thinks about, I think its just realized on a certain level, which leads to mass fvckn. I mean whites fvck, but I still think minorities tend to fvck more. Just figured I'd share my brilliant little theory lol.
yeah true gotta agree its generally a phase lol... that eminem never grew out of lol
Do you think they will ever have a black James bond?
Actually Eminem is different as are many white kids that are actually from the hood. When you grow up in those areas, you take on those characteristics. Just like those blacks that grow up in predominantly white neighborhoods (like my kids) don't have that stereotypical inner city mentality but rather they act more like the kids from 90210. Products of their environment.
As far as a black James Bond. We already had our version. His name was John Shaft!! Yes...SHAFT!!! lol!!!!
Thanks...I guess...lol!!! I attribute my calm demeanor to not having fear of anything or anybody. Not to try to sound like a tough guy, but I believe fear is what causes people to always have to try to prove to people that they are tough. I've been through that. Fought many battles, won most, lost some. But I've done everything most young boys wanna do, so I figure I sit on the top the world. I don't have nuthin to prove anymore so getting into pissing matches with people over topics doesn't get me excited anymore. I've had people from this forum threaten to wanna kick my ass (rage), threaten to want to kill me (texasboy), etc. I know none of these guys could accomplish these feats so I just move on. At the end of the day, we aren't judged by how many fights we've won, how much weight we've listed, but by the knowledge we leave behind.
I follow you too, brotha. You are one of the reasons I follow and understand MMA. As you and I have discussed boxing and MMA. Your knowledge of MMA has allowed me to actually follow the nuances of the game to become a better, more knowledgeable fan. So thank you!
is that you in your avi BgMc?
yeah makes alot of sense i must say eminem is very talented and would agree with the product of the environment..
With James bond the black man that came to my mind was Denzel Washington lol.
Is there a reason why black men can't swim? You never see them competing at international level for example the Olympics?
Denzel woud make a helluva a James Bond. I don't know if he can pull off the english accent though. Lawrence Fishburne would be another candidate. Him as Orthello was remarkable.
Black men can swim. That's a stereotype. As a matter of fact, a black American won two gold medals at the last olympics in swimming. Traditionally blacks don't compete in swimming because for years, there weren't pools we were allowed to attend. Many public pools in both the north and the south weren't integrated until later. Swimming is a very expensive sport (like hockey, lacrosse, golf, etc), that is the reason why you don't see many blacks competing in it.
BTW, my father was a special operations soldier, swam quite well. I learned to swim in creeks and ponds in South Carolina. My sons and I swim quite well and I have a pretty large pool in my backyard that we ACTUALLY use...lol!!!
Ok cool i thought it may have been a genetic difference like you guys being able to naturally jump higher and sprint faster because of more dense twitch fibers.
Which black actor has done the most for the black community?
I think the idea of use being better athletes is only true to certain point. I think, in days past, it might of been truer than it is today. We so much race mixing, the myth of the dominant black athlete is continued to be dispelled. Certainly you'll find the bulk of explosive athletes being of African descent, but I don't know if its, ENTIRELY, due to physical characteristics, or due to the fact that the black community puts a greater emphasis on being athletic than anything else.
As for which black actor has done the most for the black community...that's a really difficult question to answer. Are asking about who's contributed the most money? Are you referring to who has open the most doors? Its a loaded question that I honestly don't think can be answered. So many people have contributed to the progress of black Americans, and in many different ways, that you cannot say one actor has a definitive top standing on have the biggest contribution.
yeah i guess my question was more directed to the teen/young adult generation, bc thats where the bulk of my life experiences come from ( im 25) and from my personal observation of blacks that i went to school and worked with. you point out the abortion rates, i live in a poor rural community where economics for all races are simular and there are very few if any secrets, so that doesnt fit my case. the teen pregnancy rate and std rate is higher in the black community, and yet the vast majority of the health dept clinics are located in the middle of african american neighborhoods. ive had this conversation with a ton of people as to why they dont, and the feed back i get from almost every black man is that it just doesnt feel as good! with very little, to no regard for diseases or pregnancy.
whos the best rapper of all time? (if you say little wayne then you are kicked off of this thread bc you arent really black).
IMO, the best rapper of all time is Rakim. Hands down the purest lyricists of all time, IMO. But I'm old-school and a lot of young cats don't know the history of rap so they'll say something like Em, or Wayne. Here's my top 5 of all time:
Rakim
Kool G Rap
Biggie
Em
Big Daddy Kane
As far as your perception about bc in black neighborhoods. You are confusing a whole group of people with a sociodemographic part of that group. In poorer neighborhoods there are more health depts. Those poorer neighborhoods happen to be predominantly black. Well where I went to school, the poorer neighborhoods were all hispanic, and they had higher instances of teen pregnancy. The black neighborhoods were mostly middle/upper middle class (all former/current military), there were low instances of teen pregnancy, and low crime. Where I went to college in Albuquerque, NM, again the poorer neighborhoods were largely hispanic, BUT, there were a whole lot of very low income white neighborhoods and again both had higher instances of teen pregnancy and crime, with health centers and police departments in those areas. So its more about socioeconomics rather than purely racial.
Is it wrong to yell the N word in an online multi-player FPS game to get banned on purpose ?
I like your taste. I'm an old school fan too... maybe too old lol! Master Ace, Main Source, Gangstarr, Lords of the Underground, Brand Nubian, TCQ, X-Clan... omg we can go on and on... Ed OG, Leaders of the New School... yea I know, weird that a white boy would be listening to 5 percenter stuff like Brand Nubian, huh? I grew up in Elizabeth NJ, 10 minutes outside of Newark... for me rap was just normal music.
I KNEW that was you!!! I kept pwning u with headshots and you got all bent outta shape...
Yeah my brotha, I dig what you have listed. You can't go wrong with Wu-Tang, Redman, the Roots, oh we can go on and on, brotha. And I am completely ashamed that I forgot about Jay-Z. While I wasn't a fan of his early stuff. The older he's become the better and more phenomenal he is. And I also forgot about NAS, so my bad on those two omissions.
I don't know if this has been asked but: is it true that most black men like big rear ends on females? and if so, why do you think black guys do more than white guys?
Its been asked but I don't have time to look for my answer so I'll answer it again. I have no problem doing that.
In Africa, a large rear is considered prestigious. It shows that the woman is well fed, from a good family with means. But it does go a little deeper biologically. Large butt and hips usually means the ability to carry larger children, more children, and with less problems. Large hips also indicates the woman's ability to care for children and still be productive (something about the hips of a female are designed for a woman to hold her child on her hip while walking or doing other things).
Thanks for the question Slimmer. I was waiting to see if any women had any questions for me.
^^^ thanks. Maybe I should re-phrase this: why do black women like having a big rear and white women don't?
I think the same rules applies to black women. Having a nice big butt is a sign of beauty to blacks, men and women (as well as any other culture with african roots, latin americans, for instance).
From the white girls I've had the pleasure of "knowing", LOL, they are much more fat conscious than black women. Plus white men (from what I've observed) put more of emphasis on large breasts and very little frames, so its only natural that the women would follow that trend. For instance, if you ask a black man to choose between Megan Fox and Serena Williams, the vast majority of black men would choose Serena. Not necessarily because she is black, but she's just more of what we consider a "woman" should be.
I also think that the cultural difference show that (and you would have to ask white men this) white men prefer there women to be more submissive and smaller in nature. Black men like a more robust woman and with a matching attitude.
^ ^ ^ loves a big ass!
