Relationships in reality brainwash people. They teach you to rosetint a lot of characteristics about a person that a normal person would not appreciate or could most likely be repulsed by.
Like her crooked nose, her squeaky mouse voice, the way she can't pluck her eyebrows right, but we learn to associate positive things to what we'd normally consider flaws.
Which is where the term "love is blind" stems from I suppose.
You need to understand the process of getting over a person is usually just as gradual as getting into someone.
Your mind now needs to slowly reassociate everything you've learned or felt about a person.
Maybe she was always late for something and you thought it was cute.
Maybe she always lost her keys and you liked it.
Maybe when she was on her period you thought you were in a movie called exorsism and thought it was exciting.
After the break up though maybe you'll realize,
people who are always late are usually people with fuzzy priorities.
people who always lose their keys are really just forgetful and not that bright
people whos heads spin when they're bleeding grotesque and foul liquids from their body aren't really exciting, but some kind of scary alien lifeform.
My point being, a break up is usually the interjection of reality into a selfmade fairytale.
This doesn't mean all relationships are some fake bs fairytale, but to a large extent idealization, hopes and dreams are what they thrive on.
And the real pain from a relationship (**IMO**) is not really the seperation or not seeing a person anymore, I think the pain is SEEING a "new" person you never saw before, and not liking it, because that was NOT the person you saw when you met them.
Its almost like you created that person in your mind and they never existed, and the crazy part, thats really not too far from the truth.
