ipod Help ASAP!!!! PLEASE!!!

I just got my self an ipod for my birthday gift...but I can't upload the dam music into the ipod.

I have a shit load of music all selected, but I can't go into File and update ipod selection is not available to select!

I got it, It was my USB port was shitty....BUT what I want to know is how to delete all my music I have on it , to reinstall it....I guess some albums came out shitty.

Just delete your music through Itunes.

The software should be on the CD that shipped with the iPod. If not, go to Apple's support site you can download the firmware update software. There is a reset option and it will erase the iPod and set it back to factory default settings.
