1. behavoirs are learned through social conditioning and observational learning. We all form "shemas" in our head or shortcuts off how were suppose to act in a given situation through social conditioning.
2. well media play a large role but its society as a whole that has the most impact, cause society reacts to the media and conforms to a given image. Once the majority of society hosts this image, the influence for members of that soceity to resist conforming to that image is rather difficult due to punishment for noncomformity. gi-joes for instance in the past 20 years went from a little twigs to juiced up roid heads.
3. Deviance from a functional perspective serves society from setting examples of criminals who do break the law, members of society gain the benefit of realizing the law is real and to be taken seriously. Prostitution in a functional perspective would be viewed as something good for society because its preventing more serious crimes from being commitied, ie (i can rob a bank or go stand on a corner, i can rape this chick or pay her 20 bucks for a blow job) not saying i agree but its functionalists perspective not mine.
ive took like a million of these classes btw but forgot a lot of those phenomenas listed above.
