    illegal to plan diets???

Does anyone know the if planning ones diet is illegal in certain states if the one planning them is not a RD?? I heard from the owner of a very large gym today and he told me that what one trainer was doing was technically unlawfull by giving diets to clients down to the exact foods to eat etc. he says that either you have to be registered dietician or be using a certified software on a PC to moniter and plan diets.

I don't know about that, sorry dude. Don't see why a PT can't give diet advice as long as he doesn't claim to be a licensed dietican.

weird IMO but apparently in NC you have to be just that to even give diets to clients. wish there was still a personal trainers forum here

As long as you specify that you are NOT an RD and use some type of software that was intended for use by one you are pretty much fine. Plus I dont think people really care. Of course a good PT will know if the client has any issues (diabetes or high BP) and should recommend that a DR. approve of everything that is done. Or recommend an RD to the client.

yeah i think if you just say, this is what i would do. and it is not scientific and not to be taken seriously...this is an outline i think might be smart, but not exact... something along those lines. basically "cover your ass"

when it actually comes down to it you can tell the judge i can tell this idiot to eat anything such as dog shyt big if hes that dumb and shows no care for his own body to eat anything he is told then he shows no knowledge care about his own body, health and well being there for its his own fault.

He is an adult not a baby to sue over a diet cuz he controls what he does. He could have rejected that meal plan which was made for him but choose to go with it so there for its his decision. No one put a gun to his head and forced him to stick to this meal plan, it ws just a recomendation.
