for example i work 10pm - 8am nightshifts, so something similar would of been easier to work around.
what about if i eat alot of small meals at night
for eg 8-10 meals and 2 protein shakes in 8 hours
that sucks.
the same here
just start to have ur 1st meal as a shake+some dextrose
an hr later start eating solid meal pro+carb+fat
i do that every 2 hrs , u will lose some muscle though, but nothing to worry abt , u can get dem back
I dont know what you want us to say. I mean you told you you cannot eat anything during the day and you arent able to sleep throughout the day and live at night so I mean what option is there?
I mean I dont mean to offend muslims or anything but the whole fasting thing is just not a good idea. It is not healthy for your body for one thing and assuming you are into bodybuilding or whatever well that just goes to shit...and this is what Allah wants? He wants you to give up what you love and not nourish your body with the proper vitamins/minerals/nutrients that it needs to function properly, for like 13 hours?
Like I said Im not saying it to offend anyone at all, but it just really isnt good for you bodybuilder or not.
agree, like I said that sucks. No way to keep a diet on track when you starve yourself. I personally never let religion override lifestyle.Originally Posted by C_Bino

all i can say is good luck if you aren't able to make the necessary sacrificesand you wish to stick with your religous beliefs, my best friend is a muslim, although he doesn't bodybuild.
just try and ensure your diet is as spot on as it can be in the hours you are allowed to eat, i guess.
am i right in guessing ramadan lasts approximately one month ?
dope.do you know that by the end of the 30 days that i fast

you change them all? change them all how, what are you talking about here? This makes no sense to me.Originally Posted by stewie

eg.skin cells
This would mean you are eating a meal or more every hour. I was wondering when you planned on sleeping, since you already stated you can't sleep during the day. With this approach you are planning on going the entire length of ramadan with no sleep.Originally Posted by stewie

ok i'm no expert on diet or this topic, but i'll try offer as best advice as i can.
avoid:
fried or fat foods, foods containing sugar, too much caffeine at sunrise before the fast (diuretics will pull out water and nutrients your gonna be needing for the next 13 hours)
try to:
eat complex, slow digesting carbs at sunrise so the food lasts longer and keeps off feeling hungry a while. id recommend slow digesting proteins at this point too.
my friend told me you could run into problems such as headaches (cut down on things such as caffeine and tobacco slowly in the leadup to the start of the fast) muscle cramps (not enough nutrients such as magnesium, potassium, calcium. eat nutritious foods like fruit, vegetables, dates etc), low blood sugar (avoid simple carbs and sugars which will cause blood glucose levels to suddenly drop upon the body's release of insulin)
like i say im no expert, but i hope this helps!
Maybe someone else can explain it to me, because I dont have a bloody clue what you are talking about.Originally Posted by stewie

It takes a lot longer for your body to renew every single cell than one month, not sure how long it is.
Found this on New Scientist
"How long does it take to completely renew your body, and what's left at the end of it? New Scientist investigates
HERE'S a question: how old are you? Think carefully before you reply. It's a lot trickier than you might imagine. The correct answer, it turns out, is about 15 and a half. According to recent research, that's the average age of your body - your muscles and guts, anyway. You might think that you have been around since the day you were born, but most of your body is a lot younger.
That may come as no surprise. It's a common belief that the human body completely renews itself every seven years, and though biologists would hesitate to put a firm figure on it most are happy to accept that cells eventually wear out and are replaced. In some tissues - skin and blood - we know how long it takes, for example from seeing how long transfused blood cells last. Surprisingly, however, we have no idea how often most ..."

yea
maybe blood cells only
Sorry stewie, but i have to go with bino on this one.
I believe fasting is also unhealthy when linked to a bodybuilding lifestyle. if fasting had a place in achieving a chiseled, hard, highly defined, muscular, low bodyfat %...etc etc ( you all know the adjectives ) then we'd see it implemented more into the cutting phase of bodybuilding wouldn't we.
The fact remains that maintaining a regular and correct level of what we need including carbohydrates, fats, proteins, not to mention the various minerals and vitamins our bodies require during regular weight training and cardio is of upmost importance, and i can't see how 13 hours of fasting can benefit this.
JMHO, and i mean no disrespect to your beliefs in anyway, best of luck with fitting your training, diet and lifestyle in with the coming period, and keep us informed with your progress.
Maybe it would be a good idea to log progress, workouts, your energy levels, what foods you found were best etc and in future other muslims who have the same obstacle during Ramadan can learn from your experience and you also have the added advantage of knowing what to/not to do next year during the same period.
Good luck.

You realize that you're asking this question to a forum that is primarily about the use of AAS?Originally Posted by stewie
I might be wrong here, but isn't it the Qur'an against the use of performance enhancing drugs?
Seems kinda hyprcitical to endorse/use steroids and also fast at the same time.
Anyways, my advice would be to ask this question to a muslim bodybuilding/fitness forum.
I'm sure the question has been answered many times there.
no its not, its not something that harms your bodyOriginally Posted by kihop

Erm, my fiance is Muslim (very liberal too) and she had problems with me using AAS.Originally Posted by stewie
Try googling the words Islam and steroids together.
Not trying to offend you, but asking your question to this board is like me going into a car dealership and asking the dealer if he knows anything about boats.
man the guy is asking about diet not AASOriginally Posted by kihop
, do ur own research if u wanna know
if you look at the first postOriginally Posted by kihop
you should notice that my question was about diet
not the use of steroids and religion
