Elbow Surgery - Anyone with Experience

It looks as though my bout with Tendonitis is not over. I have had 4 cortisone shots, completely rehabed my elbow with physical therapist and it just never gets better. I have consulted with Dr.'s and they believe that the only way that I have a chance to return to full activity again is via surgery to both of my elbows.

I am just curious if anyone has had any experience with this? What was the recovery time.

Not sure if this should be in the injury forum, but not really looking for a diagnosis on the injury, just info on results from a surgery. If this is the wrong forum apologies.

I had surgery on my right elbow in 2000..6 months later I was good to go again with no more elbow problems...Now it's time for the left elbow and I will not regret it..

well i had Tommy John surgery and im right at six months since surgery. Started throwing about a month ago and in another month ill start another throwing program but off the mound. So all around 9 months to full recovery. Rehab gets so fvcking old cuz i been goeing 3 times a week for almost 6 months still but its worth it as im gonna get drafted next year.

i had elbow surgery as well ..... had an ulnar nerve transposition .... same spot as TJ, just not as serious ..... i believe i was good to go in about 3 weeks

i am too battling tendonitis in both elbows. cortizone shots last for a month or so for me. deca is great until u stop. i have been considering this other option called E.S.W.T. it's basically a treatment where they shoot electrical impulses deep into the area of pain. high success rates.

not too many places do it. i believe it is now covered under insurance, or at lease the empire plan covers it. if u r in new york or new jersey pm me and i'll get u the doctor's name i was going to use in long island.

i had that surgery when i was 13. Landed on it and pinch my nurve and eveytime i would throw my hand and fingers would start burning or go numb. I was the youngest person to ever had it done. and in my case i couldnt throw for almost 3 months. nothing compared to my TJ surgery though

i shattered my elebow few yrs back i had two screws put in yes i was out for a good 6mths

yeah exactly .... i dont know how it came about, but i def had that horrible pain ... couldnt throw a curveball or shoot a basketball .... i had it done my freshman year ... i was hitting within 2 weeks, with the staples still in my arm ... didnt start throwing till about a week later

i remember the doc telling me that my nerve was beat up pretty bad ... probably from throwing through the pain for about a year

I had this and it did absolutely nothing. They also stuck a whole bunch of needles in my arm every other day for about two months along with the ESWT stuff and it did nothing.

Surgery is next.

I had complete reconstructive surgery on my right elbow....my recovery was about 6 months...but I could only trian lightly, it was 9 months full recovery about...

that crap doenst work. its the same thing as trainer puttin the stem on and shocking like ur ankle if u hurt it. nothing like that is gonna help when a nerve or ligament is torn. surgery is the only option. trust me bro i had that done a long time ago and it did nothing. cortizone shots didnt help either.

Is the surgery to fix tendonitis, tommy john surgery? I thought it was a fair bit less complex. Basically detaching and then reattaching the tendon in a position that will cause less strain.

I am all confused now.

I was told that there was absolutely no physio to be done after the op and complete rest / normal work would be fine. Three months later I was given the all clear to resume weight training again!!
