    Lower Back/Kidney

When I'm at the top of my inhale, and bottom of my exhale, I get this pain on my left side, lower back. Its not constant, but happens at least everyday for the past few days now.
I read where thats usually a sign of a kidney infection, but there should also be painfull urinations, and blood.
My urine is fine. Does anyone have a clue of what it could be?

    Thanks.

I first though kidney problems, but with fine urination, I thought maybe I pulled a muscle in my left lower back???? I dont remember doing anything to do that, but who knows. Does a messed up muscle even act that way when you breathe?

Well that would put it around the beginning of your rib cage. It does seem that if it was a kidney infection you would have other symptoms. You could try this but a muscle strain might have the same effect.

Murphy's punch sign is elicited when gently tapping the area of the back overlying the kidney produces pain in people with an infection around the kidney (perinephric abscess). Because the kidney lies directly below this area, known as the costovertebral angle, tapping disturbs the kidney. Because it is surrounded by infected fluid, this jarring motion produces pain. This medical test was first described by the American surgeon John Benjamin Murphy.

When gently tapping, I don't feel pain.

I can feel it though, if I push in that area

last year I thought that i sprained my back or something because as the days passed my lower back startd hurting worse and worse; to the point that i couldn't even walk. I didn't have pain urinating or anything...although i did have to go really often. I went into the ER and found out that i had a pretty severe kidney infection. It was sooo painful.
I would go check it out...asap

I'm having the same thing as we speak, but I have no lower back pain. I have to piss at least every 30 minutes though... I'm gonna see the doctor tomorrow.
