    Newbie: lifestyle & genetic problems?

Well I'm 24, been working out hard for 3 years. I continuously gain about 15 pounds in 2 month and feel great and energized. Then I somehow feel completely depleted, no energy and I can't preform my workout routine. I lose my weight in about 2 weeks flat! I had a personal trainer for 10 weeks and he could not understand it, and told me it was my body type. (My bones are very slender coupled with a high metabolism)

I work at a warehouse and I'm on my feet doing lots of activity with 50-100lb items for more than 8 hours a day with only a small break time allowed for food. So I eat about 2 meals in the morning and night (where i pack down a high calorie meal and have a protein shake 2 hours later) on those good months when I'm gaining. Then it becomes a major problem to eat that much food, I still force it down but I feel very ill at work. I try to force food down every chance I get, work being a big problem. I use appetite enhancers and weight gainers all the time as well for 2 years now with these same results. I have asked a doctor and he tells me that I'm healthy and not to worry, that it is just my metabolism and that it will slow down...

Currently I'm 5'10 and 130 pounds trying to gain yet again after losing my 150. I never get very high and I don't change my routine or my diet but I feel very sick after a few months of high training. When I start losing weight I try to eat lots of fat as well to at least keep weight on, which might be a reason why my gym time suffers.

I'm not looking to go stupid and I've researched diet, training and steroids. It has been a huge temptation for me to use steroids the past 3 years. I haven't due to the fact I can't gain naturally but I'm getting distressed and worried.

Is there any small steroid that can increase my appetite and/or slow my metabolism down? My doctor will not prescribe me anything and I feel very sluggish and weak when I weigh this much but I cannot seem to keep my gains and progress after 3 years. I feel like I have a tapeworm or something.

Ya, it definitley is your body type and metabolism, they both can vary wildly in people. No one on here is going to tell you to do steroids, i think its a horrible idea in fact for you right now, and you really shouldn't consider it as your new to training and dieting (EDIT : sorry i never saw you've been training for 3 years). I would work on a good diet plan and let your body get used to that and training for a while. If you want to put on weight, there's all sorts of different diets out there, im currently on a keto diet which i find is good for both cutting and bulking (you can eat enourmous amounts of calories fairly easily with it). pm me if you want some links to good keto sites

Wow, you definetly make myself and some others here who complain about their genetics count their blessings. Your situation leaves me with a few questions.

    How old are you?

Could you get a normal desk job where you dont lift 100 pound boxes?

There are a number of crazy ways you could use chemicals to mess with your metabolism but none of them are appropriate for you. Do some research on DC training (aka Dante or Dogcrap) or any HIT or hardgainer (Look up IronAddict). Also accept that you may need a week off here and there but eat like a PIG on that week off.

its your job man. no doubt, you cant eat what you need to and when you need to. When you were 150 were you working a different job?

Yes I have had the same job throughout. My areas and responsibilites change, which is good because I get bored doing the same shit every month.

And this job pays well. I don't know if I can just 'find another job' that will pay and have these benefits. I just need a slower metabolism.

I used to be the same way. When I graduated high school I was 130 pounds. I was always the skinny kid and most of my young life I looked almost emaciated. I always used it to my advantage though. I wrestled for 14 years and kept myself in the best shape I possibly could. My metabolism and natural strength made me a power house compared to the other guys my weight.
Now I'm 29 and at 5'8" 195 lbs., I hardly look emaciated anymore.
I started gaining weight when I was about 25 or 26. Up until then, I was never over 150 lbs. Your metabolism will naturally slow down. Trust me, you don't want to rush it.
You have to alter your training styles. If your anything like me, your body will quickly get used to training styles and after a few months your gains will come to halt. I used to get so frustrated because I'd make awesome progress and then it would all just stop.
Just keep at it man. You have to switch up your training methods as much as you can to keep yourself from getting bored. I usually switch exercises every month or so. As for diet, keep it simple. You don't have to eat 2k calories per meal, you just have to eat more times per day. Start bringing small things with you to work that you can munch on throughout the day. Meal bars, yogurt, quality beef jerky, cereal bars, fruits, stuff that you can grab on the go and suck it down. Make sure you get a good heavy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't try to cram all of your calories for the day into 1 or 2 meals.
If I can do it on my work schedule, anyone can!
Once you have your diet and training in check to the point that you can maintain your peak weight more naturally. You'll be able to hold onto that plateau. Then you can throw some AAS into the mix to help push you over it.
Mine was about 170 lbs. Once I held that weight for a couple months without having to make my self sick, I ran a cycle that rocketed me to 205 lbs. After that cycle, I kept my training and diet in check and ever since, I've been able to maintain my weight at 190-195 pretty naturally and without excessive eating.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, be patient and keep pushing yourself. Learn what works for you and stay with it. Don't keep trying the same styles and diets if all they do is produce the results you described.
