no doubt ronnie is bigger overall, even looks more defined...however
arnold has the look that nobody has ever recaptured, IMO he defined bodybuilding at its greatest point, how he represented the sport, how he represented himself, how much he has done in his life, and most importantly, the progression of bodybuilding which he made possible.
when comparing ronnie and arnold there is no comparison. arnold is undoubtedly the alpha and ***** of the sport.

No way. Compare Mike Mentzer's physique to Arnold's and they look worlds apart. If you switched heads, you'd instantly be able to tell who is who. Try comparing Arnold with Boyer Coe. You can't. Their physiques are worlds apart. Or Mike Mentzer and Frank Zane? Arnold and Chris Dickerson? Frank Zane and Jusup Wilkosz?? The physiques from back then were ALL very unique. A couple of them may have looked very similar (Arnold and Serge Nubret perhaps), but pretty much all of the physiques back then were unique.
It's the guys TODAY that look the same. All blocky and bloated, deformed looking. If you switched heads on the competitors today, you wouldn't be able to tell who is who on 9/10 of them!

I like to look at the beginng and then try to foresee the future. The Dry look is back and i think the symetry will return as well as what is actually pleasing to the eye.

Ronnie destroys him hands down (as to be expected though seeing as its a different era).
Besides at the end of the clip you know that its a bias view because it shows one of the fake pictures from ironage.com (whatever the site is) where arnold is morphed next to ronnieyet looks a simmilar size because the scale, lighting and tone of the picture is completely different. You cant post up two different pictures from different eras and compare them lol.
Ronnie would have totally dwarved arnold yet in the pic he doesnt, thats cos the lighting, scale and tone are all different in both pictures.

Ironage is constantly trying to 'prove' how the bodybuilders of old look better than todays guys...so arnold is in a different light, shading, texture, different distance from the camera etc etc..it all makes him look bigger against ronnie. These pictures are constantly cropping up over the net on all bb forums, theres loads on serge nubret and flex wheeler, haney and coleman etc etc.
If youd have put an arnold against ronnie in 2003, arnold would have been blown not just off stage but out of the room.

He did have nicer aesthetics thats true, much less freaky but beautiful shape.
Have you seen ronnie at his peak in real life? I saw him in 2004 just after the mr olympia when he came to london for the british gp that he won, id only seen him in pictures or videos etc before that. I was so impressed with how he looked, he looked incredible, totally unbelievable. When you saw that guy in the flesh in contest shape 2003-2004 his physique was totally incredible, then youd know there is no comparison mate.
I know things look different in pictures and i never used to like ronnies physique compared to say flex or kev but after seeing him in 2004 at the british gp it totally changed my perspective, in person he looked incredible.

the classic look of the 70-80s is always going to mean something to everyone. nothing wrong with modern bbing, the look has evolved, but the old school look was pretty fantastic

I think its because of the extra mass and body contours that stick out more which makes it more of a sight to behold in real life. The camera doesnt pick up the contour and displacement of the figure but in real life when you saw ronnie it was incredible to see his back (in 2004 before injury) and the way it was contoured...like he was literally sculpted out of mounds of rock and granite, a walking, living and breathing sculpture.
I always hated the current pros physiques when i saw them in mags or video and always praised the 70's gang, thought that the current guys were repulsive (this was when i first started bb), then the changing point was seeing them in real life...what a difference it made, in real life they look totally different, you cant appreciate it until you see it up close in reality.
After that, my mind was changed.

The video of Ronnie in the beginning are from the 2003 Olympia and IMHO thats the best ever package a bodybuilder has brought to the stage EVER.
He was unbeatable and I cant see anyone coming anywhere near that in the next 20-30 years.
He looks better than Arnold ever did there.
Ronnie 98' was also unbeatable. Possibly better than 2003.
