    Gave myself an ulcer

Well as if my shoulder and tendonitis weren't enough to contend with, now I've got a nice ulcer to deal with. I was just settling back into a nice training regimine and gained a good five pounds. I came home from work early one day last week with a burning pain through the middle of my stomach. Into the 3rd day I realized this was not a virus. I couldn't eat and was losing time at work and spending alot of time in bed. Finally got to the doc on friday. She gave me some Prevacid which actually started working surprisingly fast to get rid of the pain and acid buildup. It doesn't look like the ulcer is bleeding but I still have to stick to a very bland diet for a few weeks. That means no coffee, orange juice, chocolate, caffeine etc. I quit drinking and quit smoking, eating is all I have. Why don't they just cut off my testicles too? Well anyway my stomach is pretty stable right now. I really want to get back in the gym cause I've lost so much weight I hate looking in the mirror. I was dehydrated and couldn't eat so I lost size and hardness. Question is, should I stay away from training for a little longer? Will the strain get my stomach going again? I'm really getting depressed here.

Good luck buddy. I've had a minor one before, a long time ago, in the worst part of my life. Mine was caused by 1.a restricted caloric intake (I was actually dieting back then LOL, something I don't do often), and 2. stress. A lot of stress. When I walked around with it, my whole left side around the stomach and even behind hurt. I had gastritis also, which was caused by stress, which probably caused that pain. I'm the type of guy that does things my own way. I'm not big on meds, instead I like to adjust my lifestyle to make myself feel better. Anyways, I did everything I could to make myself happier and less stressed, and it worked in getting rid of that thing. I actually drank a bit more, and I ate a lot more, including fat. You don't have to listen to everything everyone tells you. I like to take things into my own hands. Just because the doc might say you have to eat certain foods doesn't mean it will work. I swear to God, I ate McDonalds like every damn day. It tasted good, made me happy, and helped get rid of that thing. I also cut way down on the worrying and stress which carried over to this day. Today, LOL, I don't worry about much, and maybe that's not always a good thing LOL, but I'm in a lot better postition now, then I was then. Now I don't come on here much, and sometimes I offer people advice with some serious problems and may sound a bit arrogant, but bottom line is, is that I've been through some really bad times, and made it out of it, completely. I hope you feel better!

Thanks bro. yeah stress is a killer. I have alot of it right now and not training is making it worse. I'm trying to learn to stay calm in crisis situations but I have a short temper to start. I'm staying away from the worst foods like tomatos, caffeine, pepper, chocolate and anything spicy. I can't risk going through another week like last.

Stress, stress, stress and stress...Did I mention stress. That will get you everytime. If you lift and it relieves that stress don't stop lifting. You need to remove that stress from your life. Change what is stressing you, I have been where you are at but worse. trust me when you get rid of all that crap that stresses you out you will feel 100 times better. Not sure if its your job or your girl but your body does not need the stress. Good luck.

You got this brotha. Yep, you do what makes you feel better. If you don't want to eat the fat foods like I did to get rid of it LOL, don't. It might not work for you. Definately train though man. God, training always makes me feel better, always. You got it man. It is so weird though. I had that thing for a short time entering into my own Perfect Storm LOL. Like I said, I got rid of it, and have never been the same in terms of what I worry about. I let ALL the little sh*t float on by. And honestly, maybe a bit too much, but I'm happy doing it. It went away, and never came back. I used to dip, chain smoke and drink a lot too man LOL. It was primarily sh*tcannin' the stress and making sure I had enough food in my tummy to put it honestly LOL, that got rid of it. Life can suck sometimes man. Just know there's other dudes out there like you. You know what too man, it's really cool when you meet one. It's a real trip face to face. Anyways, ya got it man. Best of luck, it'll all be over soon. And somebody also said it: you'll feel a million times better when it's all done.
