Havent done a show yet but my buddy who did a show (took 1st place lightweight division at the Wisconsin State Fair, LOL) anyways, he did the show and came in at 147 5'6". He def. had it going, but still continued his cycle after the show and ate like a mad man to bulk back up. Def. had some positive changes for him. Most was due to diet but im sure the prop he was running didnt hurt to help him bulk back up.
no personal experience, but i would imagine it would be better for your gains to continue your cycle post show. reason for this being that on stage you have basically depleted yourself of calories, been dieting for weeks and weeks and are probably not as strong as you normally are after the exhaustion of contest prep.
seems to me it would make sense to continue on and put some mass on post show.
i would be careful running gear up through a show. depending one what you are using you will retain water and look flat.
also, when you contest prep, you are only trying to keep your gains, you aren't going to be gaining mass in the last few weeks of training. if you are, then you aren't prepping correctly.
