Thumbs down RANT: Your lifting and the public

Overall, being involved with bodybuilding in one form or the other, IMO is the best thing ever. However, when Im around friends and family ive been in a few situations that kinda piss me off a little, maybe a few of these have happen to you.

    1. Getting your balls busted for not drinking. Happened on Saturday, Now I did have a couple of drinks, but didnt start when everyone else did which led to a little bit of "what, your not drinking? Are you going to? Why, a few wont kill you!" etc. NO, Im not, BTW be glad i voluntered to drive you around town so you dont get another dui.......

    2. When people realize you lift, or worse work in a gym and they feel guilty and say, "yeah, I need to start working out/eating right, again" Listen, if you dont want to exercise and smoke/drink all day, I dont care, but dont BS me when your not serious.

    3. When people realize you lift then tell you how big/athletic they or a guy they knew was, Isnt always really cool how no matter what shape your in they or the guy was "about your size but bigger and more ripped"

    4. When your bulking and people ask "Have you lost weight?"

    5. When people think that cause you lift they have the right for you to pull up your shirt to see your abs. I dont even like it when girls do this.

    6. When people assume you work out everyday for like 5 hours a day then they dont belive you when you tell them 3-4 days a week, for an hour or two.
so then they say "well, must be genetics, do you have any black in your family?" (Yes I was asked that on saturday as well)

there are a bunch more, You know the thing we strive to be, which is diff, also sometimes can be a god damn nuesense. Yeah, a complement here and there is cool but do we really need the circus atmosphere when I simply wanna hang out with friends in a public setting.

Does this happen to anyone else, im sure there are more............

I get #1 all the time and it drives me CRAZY ! Like you i also have a few beers but don't get wasted like i use to. The girls say "You use to be fun to drink with !" which i want to respond so bad with Why because you use getting drunk as an excuse to show me all your female body parts !
(They say i am gay so it doesnt count) ...thats not a joke

I can take Jose on his own but he never comes alone. He always invites his good friends Johnny, Jim and Jack.

haha reminds me of Jim Brewers stand up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7g0AJPqKybs

I hear you bro. Let me add on to number 3...

When people know you workout and "give you advice" on building muscle, when they themselves are either skinny or out of shape...PRACTICE WHAT YOU F*CKN preach you ignorant f*cks.

the drinking thing makes me irate, and i always go on a rant. I dont see why its a big deal if i dont drink, but when people ask "why the hell dont you drink?" in the same tone that youd ask "why the hell did you rape and murder that infant?" it gets abit much

    yes to all of those.

my co workers are assholes about it ALL. that i dont drink, smoke, or do drugs (****).

they tend to think i LIVE at the gym. they rag on me about eating every few hours and the food i eat "is boring and they couldnt live that horrible".

mean while, my boss is 5ft8 and she's 270lbs. every few weeks she gets all depressed and does these colon clense things, miracle teas, and stops eating. loses 15lbs (shit and water), is all proud, then orders a pizza.

    ugh. i hate everyone.

I don't get the drink'n thing but I get the exact same thing with food. "What you don't like my cake" or I go to a family thing and the only thing food I can eat is on the veggie tray. Another one I get harassed at work all the time "when you going to start eating normal" And yes everybody always points to me and says I/he was as big as you only more cut. Hear that all the time even from family members that see me all the time. OR one you didn't mention was they just can't get off the subject my brother in law this weekend was on and on about me being "Buff" over and over I wanted to start on him about how fat he is. I guess I could were big cloths but I like to look nice so I take the good attention (women checking me out) along with the irritating. I think over all I like the attention.

Its silly to let it upset you. o well

Personally, i take it as a complement......if you are not getting this, you may want to try harder or take up ping pong.

he shut up and went back to his ugly ass g/f

rofl get this my parents though that after my contest prep i was told 'em i was gonna be in my offseason or whatever and they seemed to think that meant eating like a "normal" person and hardly worki9ng out????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and no "drugs"

funny thing is......i've told them a thousand times, it's like they wanna play ostrich and put their heads in the sand.

mom was gonna make me go to this insanely expensive natural path too and she's like "well if she says that bodybuilding is ruining your health will you listen?" and i'm like "ummm **** no"

Its more like a backhanded compliment, I mean we all do bring it upon ourselves with following through with the lifestyle,

and when I think about it most of these only happen when i do occationaly go out with friends (ie the bar)

I think most of the time I take it all with a grain of salt, and can laugh about it now..

btw here is another one weve all had to deal with

Trying to buy Jeans/or worse Swimming Trunks,

Jeans are a pain but you can always belt them, Havent seen many board shorts with belt loops, even when you try to sinch them up, you have to be carefull when getting out the pool........

I figured, people try to tempt you so you indulge with them because they know they aren't as strong mentally as we are.

That alone makes me not want to eat like shit
