Jury duty!?!?

So I have a summons for jury duty tomorrow.
Haven't decided if I'm going or not yet.
I don't know if it's just the interview process or what, but getting up at 7am is insanely early to me and will suck big time.
I've heard they can arrest and fine you if you don't show, but a buddy of mine said he skipped his and nothing happened?
Anybody know anything about this??

I got a jury duty summons about 3 years ago. Smack dab in the middle of finals. I told them that I could not make it. I was told that it was no problem and they would put me on the alternate list or something like that. Got a call about three weeks after that saying that I was selected for jury duty. I told the lady that I had finals in school and I couldnt possible make it.......LOL that was kinda a white lie because I was leaving for a fishing trip a day later. I have not had a jury duty summons since.

Yeah I was thinking of taking that route... I have a shirt with the serial killer Richard Ramirez on it with big pentagrams all over. Figure that alone would rule me out for selection.

I work late nights, and normally wake up around 1 or 2 pm.
So getting up at 7 am... noooooootttttt happening.
Not going.

I don't like Law & Order anyway.
OZ on the other hand is a different story.

Everyone who knows me gets out of jury duty with one simple statement "my friend/brother/blah blah is an ex-con".

BUT, I also heard all you have to say is you don't have faith or respect for our justice system.

i've always wanted to be chosen for jury duty. besides doing my part for the justice system (if we don't do it who's going to) i think it would be interesting. my cousin was called for duty and had to serve on 3 or 4 cases, one of them murder. don't know if i'd be into it if i was on a high profile case where the jury needed to be sequestered for days/weeks/months on end though.

I skipped the summons and nothing happened. It was sent to a previous address, as I had just moved, but hadn't changed my mailing address yet. By the time it found me the time had passed. Never been summoned since.

ive been called for jury duty.i was pissed untill my employer said that if i was selected thay had to pay me, as if i was working. i too worked nights at the time so i was trilled to have a normal scedual for a few weeks and get paid. as for the jury pay i think it was like 5 or 10 bucks a day i cant remember

Exactly! Ivehad like 3-4 summons, know what i do? Put that sh*t in the shredder asap, end of story. Jury duty, what jury duty? Can they prove u received a summons? Um no! Do u sign a confirmation from the mail man everytime u get a jury duty summons, nope. Ive never personaly (not a story online or he said she said) heard of someone having problems not calling or showing. They pay u like 5 bucks, just enough for the hot dog and soda from the stand outside. Waste ur whole day, why do all that? Whats the justice system do for u? I know id never go, got better things to do with "My" time. Fu*k em!

Jury duty is an honor. Having a good understanding of the law...being involved in local politics and serving on jury's is privledge that should be appreciated. You might be the one guy who shows up who isn't some one who "just couldn't get out of it". It could be a fellow BB who is charged with something because he looks big and you could be his key to a FAIR trial.

Yeah I skipped that shit.
I went and saw a sneak peek of Burn After Reading instead.
And it sucked.

I asked a friend who's a cop about it and he said neither he or anyone he know has ever taken anyone in on a jury duty warrant.
So pretty sure I got nothing to worry about.

I was picked for jury duty once and i just called them up and stated that i felt i couldn't perform these responsibilities without some of my prejudices getting in the way, and they let me out of it and even thanked me!!!! lol

P.s. I'm not really prejudice! (not much anyway)..........

And for all who didn't know: Juries are the highest law of the land here in the usa, not supreme court judges or the head of the dea or the president.

I highly recommend that anyone who does not know what Jury Nullification is, learn about it. It is your right and my right and what protects us from tyrrany.
