Bodyfat%, What different Stages Look Like.

Not sure if this is the correct forum to place this but this seems to be the place where everone comes for BF estimates. I remember reading an article from Negrita Jayde about a dozen years ago and found a synopsis of the piece here. (If anyone has the whole article feel free to PM me with it).

This will be a real eye opener for some.

It's all subjective if you are doing a visual comparison to yourself. It just gives you a rough idea as to what to look for. Next time someone throws around a 3% or 5% number it lets you know just how lean that actually is. I was posting on Ruhls thread a few days ago when he stated he wanted to come in at 3% and was telling him just how rare that truly is and that coming in the 5-6% range will actually make you one of the leaner guys at most local and state level contests.

The bodyfat percentages there are understated.

The article's pegged guys at a lower percentage than they actually are IMO.

I wish I could find the original article, it was rather lengthy and gave very detailed description of what is visible to the eye at certain bodyfat percentages. It was in Flex magazine I believe and had to have been written in the 90's.

    No wonder it's inaccurate.

Let me be more precise, it was reprinted in Flex as an exerpt from Negrita Jaydes book. I cant remember for sure but I dont think pictures were included in the original text.

it give a rough idea, you never know where you are till you have some sorta out line... this has a detailed out line... and is at least fairly accurate or very accurate... either way it is a place to generally gauge your self...

I guess its an ok gauge but I`m still doubtfull on the accuracy according to that I would have been down to 11% or so which I dont think I was. Still good for ball parking I guess.

Nice one! ...and good article for a starting reference point. Even if you do a caliper reading your results are subject to discussion. Depends on who does it and how they do it... ect. ect.

    Nice post
