    Multivitamin - Frequent Urination

Has anyone else had this problem? I've started taking a certain multivitamin that was highly rated but I have noticed it increases my urination frequency to the point where I get dehydrated. And yes I drink plenty of water throughout the day, at least 1+ gallons per day strictly from water sources not including from foods such as vegetables.

The first time I took them was in the morning, I must've urinated about 5 times within the first 3-4 hours. By the afternoon I felt dehydrated and began to have a headache (which I rarely have). These are not normal symptoms for me.

I took the next dosage right before bed and I woke about 1.5 hours later and took the longest piss of my life. Once again this is rare for me seeing how I never ever wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

I've stopped taking them because of this but was wondering if anyone else has had these symptoms from multivitamins or if anyone knows what particular mineral/vitamin could cause this.

Maybe it's a good thing. Now that I eat right and drink a healthy amount of water a day I seriously piss like 15-20 times a day. I even went to the doctor to get checked out, but he said I was perfectly fine and the more I piss the better. It gets annoying at times but w/e. Just keep drinking!

My guess is that it is due to your increased water consumption, not the multivitamin. Unless you had some strange mineral imbalance and the vitamin helped correct it, I don't see why it would increase your piss volume.

On a side note, I sit at a desk all day and do nothing but drink (coffee, water, etc). I piss easily every hour or so. It's better to piss a lot (clear pee) rather than dehydrate yourself and not pee often (and yellow in color). Keep drinking brother

It's very possible that you are restoring proper vitamin/mineral balance in the body causing you to piss alot.

I need to point out that my water intake has not changed from day to day. So it's not like I've just recently started taking in more water as some have alluded to.

I've done some googling and found that a common side effect of multivitams is in fact frequent urination. No reason has been offered, but a possible side effect nonetheless.

Once I stopped taking them, my frequency went back to normal. I tried taking it again and sure enough I was running for the pisser every <30 minutes or so.

I think what I will do is cut the dosage in half and see how that makes me feel. And if the answer is that I'm restoring my vit/mineral balance then a gradual ramp up will hopefully do the trick

    thx guys

I think you should just take the recommended dosage, and start getting accustomed to more frequent bathroom breaks. Try to stay away from caffeine and other stimulants because that'll make you have to piss more too. That's just my opinion

MVs can cause water retention as some have high levels of electrolytes, water retention can then equal more urination
