    Anxiety and AAS

I wanted to start this thread because I am sure that there are many people on this forum that suffer from anxiety. I just learned that I have it and it was very prevalent after my first injection. It caused my heart to race out of control and I've had 2 panic attacks in the last 24 hours.

I am going to see the doctor today to see if he would recommend something that will help. I recently started noticing anxiety issues in the last 6 months and didn't know that AAS can worsen the symptoms.

Has anyone been through similar experiences, and if so, do you know if a small dose of Xanex or like medication would help? I am able to control the panic attacks with regulated breathing but that only slows down my heart after it races.

I should have answers later this afternoon but I imagine I am not the only one that has experienced this.

    Any thoughts/advice?

My first injection was 300mg deca/200mg sust, next one will be wed - 200mg sust.

No amount of breathing control will help attenuate the more aggrivating symptoms like dizziness, depersonalization, and the feeling of impending doom/death. If you get them infrequently, I'd recommend that you manage them with a benzodiazepine, and see if that is able to control them. The more serious approach would be to use something like an SSRI/SNRI or in some cases an A-typical antipsychotic(off label use). These drugs have some very unpleasent negative side effects, and they are very hard to get off of once you have been on them for a while. Their mechanisms of action and long term side effects on neurotransmitters are largely unknown because many of them are newer and there just isn't enough data available.

I suffer from panic/anxiety attacks myself. I have found benzodiazepines to be much more preferrable to SSRI/SNRI's which for me personally, have had more negative side effects, most noteably on libido, which in my opinion outweighed the benefits of taking the drug. Do not simply accept what your Doctor recommends as gospel, ask him/her about the different approaches to treating your condition. Make them aware that you know the associated risks with benzodiazepine use but would like to try that approach first.

    Good luck...

Thanks Bro. You hit the feeling on the head. I will discuss that with him. I kindof figured I wasn't the only one.

you think AAS caused the anxiety attack ten minutes after you injected?

like i said in the other thread. it is definitely anxiety. just not directly caused by the AAS

Yeah, I started googling anxiety and steroids and there were multiple studies that showed test, and deca, as well as many others, can raise anxiety levels. It effected me because I have anxiety disorder, runs in the family :-(

I also have not had a panic attack in months, especially 2 in 12 hours. I not only had the 1 10 minutes after the injection but I woke up in the middle of the night with another. Thought my heart was going to explode. The only thing I have done different in the last few months is add deca and sust, lol.

I am not 100% that is was the AAS but pretty sure. That makes the most sense.

It was sustanon, by a reputable company. I do think your right though, it definately was not the steroids on their own. I think it was the feeling that I got while they were being absorbed that got me. The injection itself was quite painless, I was suprised.

I am also no where near an expert, you have had much more experience than I with these substances, I think you have the right idea. I need to figure out the cause so that I can hopefully figure out a way to overcome this. I don't want to stop already, just got started.

    Thanks for your input peachfuzz

Thanks for all your input!! Told doc the situation, and like you all said, he prescribed xanax. I will try and take one before my next injection and see how it goes. He also said it would help to take a low dose each day, since the steroids speed up your metabolism and naturally make you anxious, a lot like caffeine, just a higher boost.

I was glad I found this forum before I started my cycle, now I'm even more appreciative.
