I've been lurking and reading for a while but I think sometime within the next 12 months or so I might do my first cycle.

Want to know what you guys think.
Stats:
25yo
6'0"
190lbs
body-fat 8-10%
I have two setups that I am considering for my first cycle.
I am an athlete and most of my training involves cleans, snatches, squats, jumping / sprinting.
I am concerned only with increasing power and strength. I do not want to increase weight any more than 3 or 4 pounds at the most.
I also want to avoid injury at all cost. I read the thread about collagen synthesis rates being inhibited with doses of test greater than 200mg / week which can lead to greater change of injuring a tendon. I already have a fair amount of soreness in my quadriceps tendons as it is. Anyway, here is what I am thinking about.
choice #1:
Test prop 300 mg / week (10 weeks)
Anavar 20 mg / day (weeks 4-8)
My logic for adding Anavar at week 4, and correct me if this sounds kind of stupid, is that maybe around week 4 I would have enough strength gains that might really start putting some added stress on my tendons and maybe they could use the boost that Anavar could give them. Basically in both of these examples I want to just use the var for injury prevention.
choice #2:
Test prop 500 mg / week (10 weeks)
Anavar 40 mg / day (starting one week before cycle and going until week 3)
This is the same kind of thing with the var kickstarting instead in hopes that I could strengthen my ligaments and shit before tearing them down with the test.
The reason I am thinking about prop instead of a longer ester is because I read that it generally has less estrogen sides. How much truth is there to this?
I would probably run proviron or adex to combat estrogen sides anyway though. Probably use a nolva only pct.
Let me know what you think.
