yeah I add real food.
i eat food before bed actually 10 egg white 1 yolk plus a little carbs either oatmeal something whole weat. i started getting better gains when i stopped the night time shakes. Real food worked better for me
Casein is crap.
um,usually i put my protien shake with some flax seed oil, but typically, real food is better. best choice would be beef, lean(not very lean, just lean) cause beef has a slow nitrogen release, if you dont want any carbs, just cut out the breads.
Just eat your 6-7 meals a day. Why does the last meal have to be a shake?
I dont understand why people think you need a shake before bed. Maybe have a shake in the middle of the night but plan 6-7 food meals and EAT them throughout the day. If your last meal happens to be right before bed cool, if it happens to be 2 hours before you sleep thats cool too.
Just get off this idea that the last meal should be liquid, makes no sense.
shakes are over rated!!!!! only use them for pre/post workout thats it!
this is the meal I have 10 min before bed. thanks for the tips..
I used to always have a casein shake before bed. I'm about to start having egg whites scrambled before bed. About half my "meals" used to be shakes. After changing all my meals to whole food besides post workout and casein before bed, I've seen a big difference. Hopefully I'll begin to see a difference with leaving the only shake being the post workout one.
I wouldn't use protein shakes for pre workout because it will be absorbed quicker than a lean solid protein source (ex. chick or tuna). The last thing you want is to be running off of nothing halfway through a workout. So a lean protein source w/ 50-60g of complex carbs and maybe add in a small amount of efa's for preworkout meal. IMO, protein shakes are fine pwo.
I have decided to never take the advise of any "Men's health" magazine ever again. Straight to these boards from now on!
They're mostly muscle tech ads anyway...
