    Pec atrophy?

i had fell of a 80 foot cliff into the water back in august of 09. i got an mri on my chest and they said theirs no tear in the muscle. but there is something wrong with it. my max bench was 300lbs before the fall and im slowly working my way back up. currently its at 200lbs. there is still pain when i lift? i have to stop when i work out because it feels like something is going to give.
its been 4 months after the fall and my right pec looks all ****ed up. when i flex it looks like part of it is not flexing.
its driving me insane. its slowly getting stronger but idk if it will ever come back 100%.
how long dose a atrophied muscle take to come back?
im hoping to god it will make a full recovery.

Technically, an atrophied muscle is one that was denied nourishment or stimulus (via exercise or due to nerves not firing properly). You may have just damaged supporting nerves, even though they said there are was no tissue damage. Sadly, this can go unseen via testing even with an MRI unless it’s specifically looked for. Fortunately though, observation, comparison, and function data from a physical exam can reveal this to a qualified doc.

I’m uncertain of this, but theoretically speaking, there are only two fixes I can think of:
    1) surgical repair
    2) possibly recruiting other nerves (hopefully mingled with the damaged ones, which sounds like what you’re doing) to support the area.

    Get it checked out again.

    Best to you.

Copy on magic..i had a bulging disc between C6/7. Misdiagnosed (Kaiser) first year. Badly atrophied right arm. Still working it back and it has been six years since the surgery. Key is to ask for MRI to make sure you have nothing pinching a nerve and to get a fix straight away. It will definitely weaken the muscle. Painful as hell mate.
