    Is diet soda a problem?

Let me start by saying I know there are better things I could be putting in my body, such as water!

But speaking strictly from a fat loss standpoint, is there anything I need to worry about in drinking diet soda? Obviously there is no sugar, and sodium is very low. I drink 2-3 cans a day as it is right now.

diet soda is ok... however all the artificial sweeteners they use are proven carcinogens.

These days you'd be hard pressed to find something that DOESN'T cause cancer... pretty soon it'll be oxygen too...

To answer the question yes it is a problem. It still has the ability to impede fat loss and for those that are in the final stages of contest prep it should be a no no.

It also upsets a balance b/w calcium and phosphorus. Reason it rots your teeth

The phosphorus acid in many diet soda (diet coke) drinks which neutralize the hydrochloric acid in our stomachs that are needed for the uptake and utilization of nutrients in our body.

They also increase fat storing hormone production within the body.

There are more reasons of course, but just a few

But again this more for those that are competitors in a the final stages of contest prep, other than that I'd just reduce the intake as you get closer to your goal body fat percent or get rid of them all together.
