Is there any benefit to tapering down towards the end of a cycle? For example, does lowering your dose during the last couple of weeks of your cycle aid in recovery at all, or not because you will still be shut down - regardless of the dose.

it probably just depends on what aas you are taking.....I would taper up the dosage not taper down. If your shutting down or already shut down lowering the dosage wont bring you back up (it will just slow your gains)..but thats just my experience with test (sust)
I do not feel like it has any impact on your recovery.
Coming down from higher dosages of test will set the body up to crash and make recovery harder, especially if you have to wait a few weeks for a long ester like cyp or enanthate before starting PCT.
Tapering down is an option, but not as effective as replacing a longer ester with a short ester like Propionate, or no-ester like suspension in order to begin PCT sooner.
With the shorter half-lives there is minimal waiting, which I always try to avoid.
