    Young adolescents secrete HGH at the rate of about 700 μg/day, while healthy adults secrete HGH at the rate of about 400 μg/day.

    1mg = 3iu

    700ug = .7mg

    .7mg = 2.1iu This is how much HGH an adolescent secretes in a day

    .4mg = 1.2iu This is how much HGH an adult secretes in a day

    you can not get a HGH level from a single blood draw, Gh is released through out the day at different times and is only in the body for a matter of minutes. you need to have a stimulation test done in order to find out if you are GH deficient or not. A stim tests is a test where they will take a blood draw for a base line and then give you something to stimulate GH production from the pituitary gland, and then they will take blood every half our or hour for about 3-4 hours the results must all be under a predetermined number in order to be "GH deficient". IGF1 levels may be a good way to monitor or detects GH deficiency but it is not used to singly used to diagnose GHD, more or less what I am saying is, your friend does not or has not passed on enough info to you or his doc did not do the tests that needed to be done and I have heard of that happening before.

    ug is micro gram as in mcg. mU in mU/L is milli units per liter. It is the concentration of substance, in this case the concentration of HGH, in the body/liter. supe3 is right HGH is secreted a different times with the biggest pulse during REM sleep. If you're taking your blood during the day, after a meal, whatever, you might not get an accurate reading. In a study by "Growth Hormone: Metabolic Clearance Rates, Integrated Concentrations, and Production Rates in Normal Adults and the Effect of Prednisone, Robert G. Thompson, Ana Rodriguez, Avinoam Kowarski, and Robert M. Blizzard" the GH secretion through out the day looks like the teeth on a rip saw. It's all over the place. I read guys saying they've been on HGH for 6 months and their reading was low. It depends on the time of day. They have to look at results and sometimes sides. HGH is tricky to test and so tricky to prove athentic. I wish I had a definitive answer.

    I know that IGF1 is not used in the diagnosis of GH deficiency but doctors do use IGF1 levels to monitor your GH levels after beginning GH treatment. so I think that IGF1 is a fair measure of your GH level but not perfect.
