Newb here with a major question.

I really don't want to get long winded over this so I'll try to keep this short and give up as much detail as you need to know. About 4 or 5 years ago I had some medical problems and lost a lot weight after a few serious operations left me bed stricken for a few months. I was already skinny at the time of the operations but after laying in bed for awhile, unable to move or even tolerate the taste of food, I shrunk down to about 135 lbs at 6'4. A lot of that was what muscle mass I did have from working out at the local YMCA, and by the time I reached my lowest weight my biceps were about as big around as a can of soda. My "old" doctor didn't really much care when it came to actually helping my problems, it was more of a "give me your money so we can talk" thing. He told me if I didn't start showing signs of weight gain within a months time he was going to put me in the hospital. His solution to gaining weight was "eating Mc Donalds and drinking a large milkshake from there 5 times a week". All I cared about was gaining weight fast, I didn't care how I had to do it.

I did as he suggested and over time I found other ways to eat, ways that were very unhealthy. I gained 100 pounds over the next two years; some months gaining as much as 30 pounds. Needless to say this did nothing for my muscle problem and I became fat and the weight was very unevenly distributed throughout my body(mostly stomach and face). I honestly looked like a Mr. Potatohead...

Over these last two years I've lost most of that weight from just working and not eating properly, and from living a very stressful lifestyle. With the way the economy is I've been left with the choice of paying my bills and having a place to sleep at night, or eating. When I was 235 lbs I didn't worry much about going a week without food because I had bills and wasn't worried about my weight, but now that I've lost about 80 pounds, I can't do that anymore. That doesn't change the fact that I've been left with the same problem of shelter or food though.

    Almost done...

Recently! I've been given a grand opportunity to do something great with my life and leave a real mark in this world. Something that everyone would grab the chance to do if they could, but almost nobody does it because it's almost unheard of. My job is going to be very dangerous, and as time goes on, my life may and probably will depend on my size and physical strength. I have about 2 years to get into shape, and I'm in a panic.

I've been told that size means nothing if you don't have the strength, which makes since I guess, but I want and need both badly. Not just for my job, but also for appearances. Being exceedingly large believe or not will also greatly improve my chances of never having a repeat of the past where I'll need the operations I needed before. Size may very well save my life in that sense, even if it's not the way you may think. I should also mention that my job won't be one where anyone will care if I'm on anabolics.

TL;DR I'm going to the doctor in about two weeks, and my doctors are pretty good. I would honestly say at this point that it's not hard to see that I need a boost under my current circumstances. What would be the best way to approach my doctor about anabolics? That's probably the only way I could afford them, and I don't feel good about taking things I'd have to buy off the street; not only because it's illegal, but because it takes those things away from someone who may need them.

Also! Do you guys have any other suggestions that may help me out? Supplements are also out of the question. I've tried them, and they're too expensive to keep up with.

I'm also sorry if this sounds like I'm being lazy about getting in shape, I assure you that I'm not. I've been working out every other day, and trying my best to increase my protein and calorie intake. I really have been very serious about this lately, but it's not giving me the results I really need, and I fear its just going to make things worse.

I'm looking for advice on asking my doctors about taking steroids legitimately. I've known people who have done that, but I know how doctors are about that type of thing. I'm also just asking for general advice to help me get into shape and increase my size and strength on a low budget(I have insurance to cover the steroids ).

To get bigger/ stronger you need to work out and learn how to eat for years. And if u can't afford steroids there is no way you will be able to afford to eat enough to gain anything. Go to the nutrition section they will def help you out there

You do not need steroids at all and I can guarantee you in your condition they will be of NO assistance at all. learn how to eat and train from the other sections on the forum and that will be the best thing you can do foryourself and your goals
