Question Side Effects - How does it feel to take steroids? Is there a "high"?

    Hi,

I am a recovering addict. I've been very successful in sobriety and have no intention on going back to using uppers. I am however considering doing a short steroid cycle to compliment the keto program I am doing. I've lost almost 50 lbs of fat. I am gaining muscle, just not as much as I had hoped after working on it as hard as I have. I have been working out and on keto for 3 months now.

My first question is if there is a psychoactive drug effect with steroids? Meaning, do you feel amped and euphoric? ...does it feel in any way like cocaine, or meth? I'm not concerned about being addicted to the muscle gains and losing control in that sense, only if it feels like a "high" will I be in danger.

    Thank you.

first off no rec drug talk on this board.
second there is no high but you will more than likely be addicted to the muscle gain. a lot of people think thay will do only one cycle that is often not the case. you sound like you have an addictive persanality so if you think you will do only one cycle your wrong.

Okay. As long as I don't get all tweaked out and euphoric, I will be fine and still considered "sober" as far as my particular program goes. How long I stay onboard is another issue, and it is something I will have to be careful with - ur right. Thanks for your input.

Congratulations on your fat loss. That's a good chunk of fat to lose and I'm sure it took some hard work.

The reason you're not gaining as much muscle as you'd like is because you're on a keto plan. Keto is a great way to diet IMO and it is possible to gain muscle on a keto plan but it's hard to gain a lot...especially naturally.

To reiterate what stocky121 said, there's no high or psychological addicting effects held by anabolic steroids nor do they have the ability to alter your thought process, how you make decisions or to skew your perception of right and wrong.

Any time a question like this comes up, it always makes me think about the testimony of the AMA during the congressional hearings leading to the Steroid Control Act of 1990. In order for congress to classify anabolic steroids as Schedule III they needed proof that there were psychological addicting properties similar to other Schedule III drugs, potential harmful physical effects of other Schedule III drugs or both. The AMA stated such effects did not exist, there was no evidence to support that anabolic steroids carried these necessary traits that were required by law to classify them as Schedule III controlled substances. In essence, congress had to break its own law in order to classify anabolic steroids in this manner. When you consider the AMA's testimony was supported at the time by the FDA and even the DEA among other government agencies, it's enough to drive you crazy!

From one recovering addict to another steroids are not psychoactive in any way whatsoever. However, the psychological effects of seeing your physiology change so dramatically can be addicting. Still, I've kept it to three cycles in 9 years.

peace, and good luck staying clean

Stay straight! But AAS is a drug no less, but the effects are different. They actually help mestay on the up and up. I came to this site getting advice on my first and only cycle, andlow andbehold, I have enough to last me for several morecycles. lol. I really only planned on one, but it is amazing to see the change in body structure and overall sense of well being. No rec drug can compare!
